August 21, 2026 Results – Twin Oaks GC, San Marcos -

We had a full field of 26 players who came out today to challenge the Twin Oaks GC, in San Marcos. All the players came out early to “beat the heat,” but as the day went on the temperatures rose and by our group was finishing on the 18th hole the air temps were a scorching 92 degrees….Hopefully our field of players stayed hydrated to keep their bodies working properly. The course was in great condition and especially the greens were true. “A” Game skills in course management were most needed today. Players who kept their ball in play and didn’t get too much into the “rough” survived the big score. But if you lost a drive or found yourself in the deep grass today, you ended up paying the price. We are now into our “Playoff Season” and every stroke can count towards your journey to getting to the TOP 8 level. Today’s “Wild Card” round paired up the field of players according to their posted indices and “match play” points were in contention. Winning matches would earn players 40 points and TIE matches were earn both players 25 points. Our regular LOW GROSS / LOW NET / NET SKINS play were also in play.

Summary / Recap of Today’s Event 8 –

What a warm day of golf we had on Friday ! Golfing conditions were fair but tough. It was a grind to keep the ball in play and mentally demanding to keep tabs of where you didn’t want your ball to go. If you found the rough or lost a ball in the lateral hazard, you were looking easily at a 2 stroke penalty. Navigating this course with high level golf course management skills was a must. Johnny Flores (Flight C) our current leader, made his presence again today as he continued to show of some “A” game golf skills where he posted a low gross 84 / low net 62 to keep himself on the top of the leaderboard. Several player took advantage of the “Playoff Season” – Match Play points as they dug in and focused on winning their match….but mostly the strategy for today was to post a low score and along the way win a few “Pin Competition” holes. Paul Deveau took advantage of his opportunities and earned 180 points to remain steady in the leaderboard standings. Other players who were committed to playing well included, Ebin Smith, Bryan Blackwell, Scott Crockett, Geoff Baynes and John Casey, all who maintained their positions as we moved towards our next event.

In the final analysis, all our top tier players (seed 1-10) all maintained their positions as some of the point gaps were closed. Some players who are out of the TOP 10 have risen to a position on our leaderboard where an outstanding play at our next event may catapult themselves into the TOP 8. Our next event will move us into our “Playoff Event 2” called “Last Chance” where participating players will be matched up according how they are positioned on the leaderboard. This event will take place in Friday September 4, 2026. If you still want to enjoy the competition and playoff season, then join in on our fun. Even if you’re just new to our group, we’ll still get you in the competition as all points that are earned will translate into “Seacoast Raffle Prize tickets” which can possibly earn you a very nice golf prize or outing. Players who do not make it into the TOP 8 will continue to compete in the Playoff Season in the “Player’s Cup Championship.“

Next event will be Friday, September, 4 2026 “Last Chance” – Ultimately players will be trying to earn as many points for the next 2 events to make it into the TOP 8. For the next 2 weeks, “Match Play” will be added to the competition to earn needed points. We will also play with our regular Low Gross / Low Net / Low Net Skins .

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee. All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily. Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
