Tee Times and Pairings

We had a great time this past Friday morning.  Twenty golfers were in the field for our  challenging visit to The Vineyards at Escondido.   Known for one of the most difficult two two challenging back to back  holes in the county,  golfers must be perfect in their drives to survive and score well.   .  Only those players who had mental toughness, along with their “A” game were able to come out on top and post low scores.   Today’s competition marks the 1st Round ONE of Match Play  Playoff competition where players and rack up extra points to see who can make it to the Quarter Finals as we take our TOP 8 players.  As of now, any player in the top 24 has a chance to earn “Playoff Points” to improve their chances to making to the end.

Welcome to the following players who are joining us for the first time this golf season:  Today we did not have any new comers.

For our events, players are placed in golf “Flights” depending on their golf abilities reflected from their official monthly golf indices.  With that, players will be competing in a few categories.  Within their respective “Flights” players will compete for LOW GROSS scoring.  Then against the entire field of players, each player will score points from NET SCORING against the field.  There are individual points that can be earned from:  “Best Nine” low gross scoring, “NET SKINS” scoring, and “Pin Competition” holes (closest to pin / long drive holes).  All the scores are tallied up each month and players will earn points according what they did that day.

Sneakernomics: Golf and Team Sports Equipment Recap of 2020 Results - The NPD Group

Recap Event 9 – With our ninth golf event  in the books, we had a showing of 20 players who came out to play.  The weather was picture perfect as our early morning 7:00a tee times approached.   Conditions were tough and keeping your ball in play was a premium.  If you didn’t find the fairway today,  you would be heavily penalized, and double and triple bogey was nearby.

To the Action Today !    Ted Clinite pulled out his “A” game skills today, and posted a low gross (77) / Low net (67). Nice play Ted !!  This racked him up with 260 “playoff points” which helped him reclaim the TOP seeded position.  Both  Bryan Blackwell and Rik Thistle  also had good rounds and posted low net scores (67) to prove they have game.     Dave Ednoff fired up his game and proved he has winning potential as scored a low gross 88 today.  Along with this he won his “Match Play” match to earn an additional 40 points for a daily total of 180 points ! In our “SKINS” competition Tom Liscum captured 2 today ! Ebin Smith won 2 of the 4 Longest Drives!  Bryan Blackwell “darted ” in his short irons with precision and won 3 of the 4 closest to the pins !…Nice Play Guys !!

Other Notables:   This year we have a few changes in who makes the “Playoffs” and plays in our Championship Bracket.  The tournament committee has made a few improvements and has determined that for our two playoff events, ALL players who participate in the field, will have the ability to earn points toward their points totals.  It is only when we get to the 3rd round of our playoffs, will the CUT line be established.  Those players who have sufficient points will to to the next round in the “Championship Bracket.”  All other players will continue to compete, but will compete in the “Player’s Brackets.”

Here’s a chart of the playoff picture:

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
