Today in “Round 1 Playoffs” players were given the opportunity to compete in “Match Play” in addition to our regular “Low Net / Low Gross” scoring, plus Net Skins and pin competition to earn points towards their season golf totals. The points values for our players are crucial as every points may take you deeper into the playoffs. For playoff Rounds 1 and upcoming Round 2, ALL players will be able to compete to determine who can make it into the “TOP 8” quarter finals.
Recap Event 9 – With our ninth event in the books, our players enjoyed a great day of golf at Twin Oaks GC. This course is full of challenge and fun, but will get the best of you if you don’t keep your ball on the fairway. Many players felt the pain of missing the fairway and taking their penalty strokes to survive the day.
Today John Riggs posted a low gross 89 / low net 62 to take honors as our big winner today. With his great play from our last Major two weeks ago, John has fully taken a firm stand on the top of our leaderboard and has made a statement that he’s the guy to beat. Today he earned a total of 240 points to solidify his spot for the playoffs this year. Nice job John !!! Other notable players who made a move today were Alan Hoekstra who now is in the mix on the top of our leader board at #4 seed. Bruce Huebner took advantages of his chances today and posted a low gross 93 to top his flight. Dave Stapleton and Scott Crockett both brought their “A” games today and displayed much success on the course today by winning their matches and posting low scores. This gained them both 220 points to boost their standings to a solid position for the next round. A couple of our regulars, Paul Deveau, Curtis Chan, Ted Clinite didn’t fair to well today, but their early season play and points standings gave them enough padding to sustain a “bad day” on the golf course to keep their playoff picture alive. Ted Clinite took the day off today, as he needed to nurse a shoulder injury and heal up for the next round.
In our “Net Skins” game, Scott Crockett racked up THREE skins today along with Jay Brandenburg who won TWO skins. Bill Buchanan was the other player who won a skin today. Congratulations guys !!

How to earn “Playoff Points” – our same format will be played with Low Gross / Low Net with all remaining events. The added feature to the playoffs is that each player will be matched up in “MATCH PLAY” to earn extra playoff points. For Rounds 1 and Round 2, ALL players are able to participate to earn “Championship Points” that will be added to player’s season totals. It is only when we get to the 3rd round of our playoffs, will the CUT line be established. Those players who have sufficient points will to to the next round in the “Championship Bracket.” All other players will continue to compete, but will compete in the “Player’s Brackets.”
Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee. All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily. Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
