–  2018 Seacoast Cup Champion –

Here’e the line up of matches for Friday –

Those players who win sufficient points by winning their match, posting low gross / net scores may fall within the qualifications to earn their invite to the next round that keeps them on the road to the 2019 Seacoast Cup Championship Match.  Here is the schedule of rounds:

NOTE:

Today’s round allows players to earn as many points to stay or push them into the TOP 16.  All matches are worth 150 points.  “Tie Matches” will split the points (75 pts. each).

Now to the action:

Players came early to warm up and get their practice in before their rounds.  The committee sends a special thanks to the field of players for their co operation and accommodating the “change” in green fees and accepting the ER’s determination to insure we got charged the “tournament” fees.  As stated before, our “Tournament Committee” will now re evaluate future scheduling events to Encinitas Ranch…unless we can sort out this fee situation….stay tuned…

A big welcome back to a few of our regulars who have been nursing their bodies for the past 6 months.  Welcome back Drs. Lee Fitzgerald and Tom Lange !

An incredible day of scoring for our field of players as high handicappers took it to heart and scored their best round of the year, taking their net play to a new level.  Our low gross / low net regulars where caught off guard by this situation and were taken back when they saw their “top standings” from all year long, come to an end today.

Big congratulations to Tom Abrell, who has successfully climbed the scoring ladder to take over  top seed #1 on the Leader Board by winning his match AND scoring well (low net 66).  Tom has steadily worked his way into the top levels, and this event he posted 250 points to his totals to catapult him to the top.  Way to go Tom!

Also our defending champion, Paul Deveau, showed why he is the defending champ, by winning his match against Ebin Smith, and added 205 points to his season totals.

In another tough match, Rik Thistle took on “high handicapper” Jay Brandenburg, and successfully overcame the 21 strokes that came along with Jay’s handicap.  The match came down to the very last hole and #18 is where Jay finally fell to the pressures of match play golf.  Way to go both of you…but a big Congrats to Rik for the victory.

Below are all the match play cards…many upsets, and many TIE Matches ..but in the end a lot of fun !

Post season play involves points earned solely from  LOW GROSS  and LOW NET play as well of WINS or TIES in Match Play.  Also our normal “NET SKINS” scoring is not available for post season play.

The course somehow thought we needed our regular season “PIN COMPETITION” and so the markers were put out.  The committee decided to award 5 pts to our winners as these “small accolades of golf superiority” against the field didn’t make any difference in points standings.   To all of you who won…Congratulations !!!

Below are the MATCH PLAY score cards.  Winners earn 150 points.  Tie matches award each player 75 points.

CONGRATULATIONS to those of you how made it to the TOP 16 – you’ll be receiving your tournament invite to the “Wild Card” Top 16  Championship Cup to confirm your spot.   If you find yourself just shy of the “cut off,” there might be some hope as some players in the TOP 16 have informed the committee of possible injury or inability to continue in post play competition due to scheduling conflicts….stay tuned for updates.

NEXT EVENT

The next competition is Friday, September 13, 2019.  Our tour stop will be at the beautiful and competitive course at The Golf Club of California, in Fallbrook.   Players who did not make it into the TOP 16 can still enjoy post season competition for the “PLAYERS Cup” division.
