COVID 19 – Pandemic – Updated Golf Restrictions
So our golf group has been playing “events” under the COVID 19 conditions since April. By now if you’ve been out playing golf for the past three months, you’d notice that the “pandemic golf restrictions” continue to be modified and somewhat “lifted” each week. Hopefully soon, we’ll be back to our “normal” way of golf. Some noticeable considerations that are still in play are: limited number of golfers in club house, no rakes in bunkers, modified cups so limited to no touching of golf pin sticks. Players are not encouraged to congregate after rounds. At least they are letting players ride two to a golf cart now. But if you feel the need to be totally distanced, you can be accommodated with a single rider cart.
In consideration of our “PLAYOFF Season” Our Seacoast Christian Tournament Golf Club Committee has adopted the following.
Please note the “Bunker” play issue we’ve been using has been modified (you must remain in bunker)
COVID 19 Event Procedures and Protocols:
General Protocols
- a) If you’re not feeling well, please stay home
- b) Wash hands frequently, use sanitizer, and avoid touching your face
- c) Refrain from shaking hands or coming into contact with others onsite
- d) Wear a mask in the pro-shop and in any situation where you can safely social distance yourself from another person.
- BUNKERS /RAKES – Since there are no “sand bunker rakes” being provided by golf courses, the maintenance or quality of the bunker can be in question. Therefore, our club will adopt the following remedy for bunker ruling.
- Bunkers:
- a) Take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball
- b) Within one club-length of the original spot, not nearer the hole and in the same bunker.
- c) Smooth the sand with your feet, or a club, after hitting their ball out of the bunker
We had 27 players show up for this month’s event at Arrowood GC, Oceanside, CA. Today’s challenge involved an 18 hole challenge which included our first end of season “Playoffs.” This event involved players being matched up in “Match Play” according to their monthly indices and player’s course handicap. Today there would be 40 points earned for players with a WIN match. Matches that ended in a TIE would have both players awarded 20 points. Also points would be earned in our normal LOW GROSS / LOW NET / LOW NET Skins , as well as pin competitions. As we near the end of our golf season, our playing format will allow us to determine our “Seacoast Cup Club 2020 Champion.” The player who earns the most points will take home the trophy this year.

Recap Event 8 – Today 27 golfers showed up to play the challenging and beautiful Arrowood Golf Club course also known as “Home of the Quandary.” The course recently had the fairways groomed and the greens were running true. The early morning tee times (7:00a) helped out our field in not having to deal with the predicted 90 degree weather. The Lord blessed us with a “marine cloud” layer for the first 9 holes. By the time players were exiting the 18th hole, you could tell they were happy to get out of the warm weather conditions and found shelter in the cool shade area around the restaurant.
To the ACTION: Ted Clinite (current leader) and Kevin Barrett (seeded player #2) both took top honors in their low gross flights to earn 170 points today. This kept their current standings in place and pretty much guarantees a TOP 8 spot in the playoff season. Several other players made notable strides in points to keep their playoff season pace going. Geoff Baynes racked up 210 points by wining his Flight D group and winning his “Match Play” match to move into 3rd seeded position. Other notable scores: Jim Hopson fired a low gross 84 / net 65 to improve his standings and the low net 65 put him for Low Net honors for the field. Tom Lange and Wayne Wilson also fired low net scores of 66 to rack up more points to their totals. Way to go guys !!
Our next event will be Friday, September 11, 2020. We be playing the beautiful and challenging Golf Club of California Golf Club in Fallbrook. The cost is $59 / player. Tee times begin at 7:30a. Reply back on this email if you want to get a spot.
The Leader Board is stirring up as we plow deeper into our Seacoast Cup Playoffs. We will continue to play 2 events each month and will have events where players will continue earning points for LOW GROSS and LOW NET scoring along with MATCH PLAY competition. Players will earn points based on event placing and match play WINS or TIES. The points value for MATCH PLAY for our next event will 100 points for a win and 50 points for a TIE.
Also for the remainder of the year, the value for Low Gross / Low Net placing shall be according to the following “Seacoast Cup Playoff ” points scoring tables:
2020 Seacoast Cup Championship – this is the post season play that will determine our club champion. Starting August 21, 2020, players will participate in “Match Play”and Stroke Low Gross / Low Net play and compete for elevated “Playoff Points.” The more points you earn, the higher up the bracket you’ll be. On September 25, 2020 event, the Top 8 players will match up again in “Match Play” with Seed #1 vs. Seed #8 / Seed #2 vs. Seed #7 etc….At the end of the round….The TOP 4 players in points earnings will continue to the Semi Finals. Those players who don’t make it into the TOP 8 will play in the “Player’s Bracket” and still continue to earn points. This year the focus is on how many points one earns throughout the year and playoffs, determine how deep you can go into becoming The Champion. One may have enough points in their standings to endure a “Loss” in match play and still continue in the competition towards the top spot in becoming the 2020 Seacoast Cup Champion.
Reply back to the email to get your spot.
There’s still time to get more points…. so get in the field for our next scheduled event on September 11, 2020 – Golf Club of California GC, Fallbrook. Tee times begin at 7:30 a / $59 green fee
