News and Results – Event 7 – Twin Oaks GC
Welcome to the 7th event of the 2017 Seacoast Cup Golf Tour. Our July tour stop has taken us to the tight and challenging course at Twin Oaks GC, in San Marcos, CA . This course demands the best of the golfer’s game. Although the score card indicates that it should play relatively easy, don’t be deceived as many golfers today experienced the difficulties of this course as it requires one to pay attention to all the golf course details. One bad mistake, and you’ll be wishing you could use the eraser to the scorecard. Several players came with their “A” game and show cased some solid play. Roger Maurais came out strong and elevated his game into the “zone” and fired a 36 on the front nine…but then hit the wall of golf reality and mentally fell out of the “zone” but salvaged a decent score. Stan Thomas and Frank Sung showed steadiness in their games and both fired a net 68. Way to go guys!
A big welcome to: Bill Locken and Danny Martin who have joined us for the first time this golf season. Good to have you guys come out to enjoy our fun.
Congratulations to our winners:
Low Gross Winners
Flight A – Ted Clinite (79)
Flight B – Roger Maurais (82)
Flight C – Frank Sung (91)
Low Net Winner – Roger Maurais (66)

Leader board – We are closing in the end of our regular golf season. This September begins our playoffs and the top 20 players will gain a spot in the match play playoffs. Our last event before the playoff season is the last of our 2 majors which carries more weight and points available to win to win a spot in the playoffs. So come on out and be ready for next month’s 27 holes event. We still have the same list of golf characters who consistently play in our monthly events and populate the top 20. Our leader board has a few changes as a few players made some significant moves up the ladder to put them in playoff contention. Roger Maurais solidified his spot into the top 20 by now taking the #8 spot. John Casey who was outside of the top 20 now enjoys the 14th seed position. There are 4-5 players who are in that zone where if they gain enough points at our next tour stop, then they too will enjoy the playoff match play season. So get signed up and get your golf game in gear to make a strong finish into our playoffs
We are drawing closer to our 2017 Playoff Season, beginning September 2017. The top 20 players will earn a spot to compete for the coveted Seacoast Cup Championship. Remember, we have 2 more events before our top 20 players are identified, with our August 4, event being the last of our “Major” events, where “big” points can be earned. So if you are desiring to have a fun filled playoff season, get your swing in gear and come on out for our next event.
