Event 6 – Results – June 3, 2016 –The Golf Club of California GC
Welcome to our 6th event of our golf season ! A picture perfect weather pattern awaited our event this week. When the sun broke through and the players made their way to this gem of a course in Fallbrook, we all could only realize that we live in a great place where perfect Summer conditions reign supreme. Some players felt the forecast of 90 degree inland temps were a bit exagerated as we received nice calm breezes to keep our field happy.
Today, our field of 28 players had to be grouped into 4 flights. Competition was tight and the course truly brought out the toughest conditions. Any errant golf shots were most likely capped off with a higher golf score. This course realy took its toll on our field of players as many experienced the need to open up another sleeve of balls to keep their game going. The greens were true and the pin placements were tough…but in the end, those who kept their ball in play, and kept their mental game under control were able to find themselves in the upper levels of their respective flights to gain more points towards the Seacoast Cup Playoffs.
In the points earning department, John Casey put his “A” game into gear and posted a respectable low gross/net winning score. Our current 2016 Seacoast Cup Champion, Ted Clinite, again showcased his game and posted scores to gain enough points to keep anyone from taking over his #2 position. Lee Fitzgerald, made an appearance today and posted a low gross score to win his flight and keep his #1 position on the leaderboard.
Welcome to new comers to our golf group: Bill Locken / Jim Blommer / Ross Mitchell / Byron Dahle
A Big Congratulations to our winners:

Quest for the 2016 Seacoast Cup– This year will be full of fun times on the golf course. We have added a new dimension to our club’s monthly event play by having Match Play events beginning September 2016. Twenty players will earn their way to this year’s match play event. Points are earned by finishing well in both individual low gross and low net score postings. Also points are earned in different team and individual events ranging from match play, 4 man team best ball, and 2 man best ball events. Net Skins are also another category that allows players to add points to their monthly points.
Also this year we have added additional “Major” events which will have increased value in scoring for that particular event. These events will take place in April and July 2016.
Remember only those players who have an Official SCGA or USGA golf index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian Golf Club Points System. Players who participate in our events who do not have an official golf index / handicap, will be assigned a “Flight” depending on their level of play. These players also may be assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for team net play points. For information on how to obtain an official golf index contact Curtis Chan and visit: Membership and SCGA
Leader board – After 6 events, Lee Fitzgerald continues to hold onto the top spot. Not many major standings change as most players held their positions. John Casey has made a few moves up the leader board and now finds himself in the top 20 group. The next few month will play a crucial part in players points as we start the count down towards our September Playoff Season. So start getting into the golf groove and get yourself ready for our playoffs.
