Recap Event 5 – With our sixth event in the books, we were blessed with a cool day of golf. The early morning “mist / fog” with drizzles made the course “WET” and so “lift / clean / place” rules were implemented for the front nine holes. Towards the end of the round, the marine layer cloud cover gave way to elements of sunshine to warm the course. The course was fair but tough. Keeping the ball in play was a premium. In our “Flight A” group, Bryan Blackwell took charge of his game and proved that he can play under challenging conditions by firing and scoring a low gross 82. In the “B” flight, both Rik Thistle and John Casey posted low gross 89s to top their flight . In Flight “C” in our field, Curtis Chan again stuck to his game plan of keeping ball in play and not getting a “blow up score’ on any holes today…this strategy proved to work as he posted a Low Gross 88 /Low Net 66 to gain himself needed points towards his playoff bid, In Flight “D” Bill Miller showcased his golf skills and posted a Low Gross 99 to prove that “Seasoned Golfers” can still play well.
A few notables: Nathan Haug (Mike Haug’s son) joined us today and showcased “youth” on the golf course as he “boomed” several drives down the fairway to win LGs today. Additioanlly, our newcomer Dave Rosenthal proved that “he’s got game” and drove the ball well too. Match Play points were up for grabs today and several players took advantage of the opportunity to rack up need points as we are only 3 months away from the “Seacoast Cup Playoffs.”
Our “TOP 3” points earners today were: Curtis Chan (150 pts), Bill Miller (140 pts), and John Estill(135 pts) / John Casey (135 pts). Congratulations to these players for making strides in climbing the leaderboard today !
It’s now mid golf season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs. Come on out and post low scores and you’ll find yourself climbing our leaderboard to the playoffs. Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee. All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily. Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact
