COVID 19 – Pandemic  – Updated Golf Restrictions

So if you’ve been out playing golf for the past month, you’d notice that the “pandemic golf restrictions” continue to be modified and somewhat “lifted” each week.  Hopefully soon, we’ll be back to our “normal” way of golf.  Some noticeable considerations that are still in play are:  limited number of golfers in club house, no rakes in bunkers, modified cups so limited to no touching of golf pin sticks.  Players are not encouraged to congregate after rounds.  At least they are letting players ride two to a golf cart now.  Walking is still encouraged.   Hopefully all of you are getting the hang of it during this “COVID 19- golf time.”   Please still be safe in all your decisions, and if you feel you’d be better off at home, then please do what is best for you.  The golf tournament committee wants all of you to be health and safe and to insure that you are certain that you’re safe and healthy when you get out and play.

We had 28 players show up for this month’s event at Carlton Oaks GC.  What a treat of a nice day of golf on a challenging “Pete Dye” designed golf course.  This gem of a course challenged the players to choose their shots well, place them in strategic locations on the course to have a chance at scoring.  If you missed a shot, you certainly would pay the price (2 to 3 strokes).  Many players proved their game was in “A” game shape, while others fell short and the “shortcomings” of their golf game became exposed.  Since this is the second event since the “Pandemic” started, it’s the first full field of play we had.  Players are still getting back into the “swing of things.”   The tournament committee decided to keep scoring opportunity to the “basics” and there is no “double play” points available since a good part of our main group missed out on last month’s event.

Recap Event 6 – Today Twenty-Eight eager golfers showed up to play along with  “updated  golf restrictions” format for San Diego Golf.  Thanks to all the field who conformed and followed the guidelines.  Carlton Oaks GC thanks each player for abiding by their rules and not making any fuss over some of the restrictions.

Some actions notes:  Player’s all got the feel of the “Pete Dye” designed course.  Shots had to be placed in specific spots on the course to have a chance at scoring.  Water and waste bunkers were abound.  Players who thoughtfully planned their play, and executed their shots, were rewarded.  Those who missed, ended up with a messy score.  In the end all had a fun time today.  John Casey came out for the first time this year and racked up 115 points as he show cased his “A” game and golf course management skills.  John also score 3 Skins among the field of players.  Usually winning one skin is a feat in itself, but having 3 is quite an accomplishment….way to go John !   Our top 10 players continued to compete, but there was no major change in standings.   There were a few players who climbed up the leader board, but as our golf season continues towards the playoffs, and our next “major event” will allow for more points scoring, the leader board will become more volatile.  Stay tuned !!

Our next event will be Friday, July 24, 2020.  We will be playing The Crossings at Carlsbad.  Cost is $75 per player which includes range and cart.  Reply back on this email if you want to get a spot.

2020 SUMMER GOLF EXTRAVAGANZA   –  August 14 – 15, 2020 (Friday – Saturday)  2 full days of golf

Update News:  Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, we had a hold on our annual Summer Golf Extravaganza.  The Temecula Creek Inn as of today has still not reopened for lodging and events, but are allowing golf activities as of 4 weeks ago.  With that, we have been assured that our golf event for both courses 1. Journey at Perchanga (Fri Aug 14) / 2. Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort (Sat Aug 15)  WILL ACCOMMODATE our annual event.  The only issue is lodging for our 18-20 players who usually stay overnight.  Your tournament committee is waiting for Temecula Creek Inn Resort to allow for booking our lodging, but we have secondary plans to stay overnight at a nearby Ramada Inn in Temecula if needed.  As of now, we ask for your patience in getting our lodging plans finalized.  In the mean time, if you know you want to get in on this event (24 player limit), then please reply back to get in on the field.   Details for this event can be found at:  2020 Golf Extravaganza

When reserving please indicate : 1. Stay and Play  or 2. Play but NOT Stay
