Seacoast Christian GC
Friday, June 11, 2021 – Omni La Costa Resort – Champions Course
Today we had 28 players come out to compete in our 6th event of the year. The Champions Course at Omni La Costa, proved to be one of the most challenging venues in our golf season. Many of our players showcased golf results which they would rather not discuss. The course played tough and if you were above the cup, you were certainly faced with a 3 to 4 putting experience. Bunkers were exceptionally tough and full of penalty potential. Players who surveyed their scorecards could only shake their heads and resolve that they for sure wanted to return to seek their revenge. Of course a few players did “shine” and score well and proved that they had “A” game skills to take on this giant of a course. A few new faces showed up for the first time this year.
A big welcome to the following players who came out for their first time this year: Andrew Buchanan, David Korb, Mike Ferguson, Matthew Simmons, Mike Tucker, Mike Yorkey, Adrian and Austin Monteiro (father / son).
A Big Congratulations to our Winners as some great golf was on display today. Here are the results.
Flight “A” Low Gross Winner: David DeMoss (79)
Flight “B” Low Gross Winner : Jim Piper (85)
Flight ” C” Low Gross Winner: Lee Fitzgerald (93)
Flight ” D” Low Gross Winner: Mike Ferguson (101)
Overall Low Net Winner: Jim Piper (72)
Here’s the Score Card
Final Results
GREAT SCORING – The tournament committee is pleased to recognize and award those players who stand out and exemplify great golf playing. Below are players who proved they have “A” game ability this past round. Congratulations to all these players.
Recap Event 6 – With six events in the books, we are now into the Summer events of our 2021 Seacoast Cup golf season. There are still plenty of golf events available to score points to make the 2021 Seacoast Cup Playoffs starting September 2021. Our leader board is still headed up by Ted Clinite who managed to thwart off any players to take over the top spot.
A few players in our field took on the course today and earned over 100+ points . Congrats to Jim Piper, who displayed great golf course management skills as he fired off a low gross 85 in Flight B. David DeMoss also displayed great control of his game and kept his mistakes to a minimum and scored a low gross 79 today. Additionally David took several “Long Drives” and a “Closest to Pin” holes to rack up additional points.
Noteables: On Par 3 Hole #12 – Mike Yorkey bravely took out “driver” to take on the 188 yard hole. Winds did pick up as he got set up on the tee box, and it was estimated the distance would be at least 215 yards into the wind. Mikes straight drive to the hole put the ball just 14 feet above the hole. Way to go Mike!!!
The Seacoast Christian GC golf season now in full stride with players making their moves on the leader board. If you plan to come out mark your calendars for the remainder events listed on our events calendar.
