For our events, players are placed in golf “Flights” depending on their golf abilities reflected from their official monthly golf indices. With that, players will be competing in a few categories. Within their respective “Flights” players will compete for LOW GROSS scoring. Then against the entire field of players, each player will score points from NET SCORING against the field. There are individual points that can be earned from: “Best Nine” low gross scoring, “NET SKINS” scoring, and “Pin Competition” holes (closest to pin / long drive holes). All the scores are tallied up each month and players will earn points according what they did that day.

Recap Event 5 – With our fifth golf event in the books, we had a great showing of 30 players who came out to play. The weather was picture perfect as the early morning 60 degree weather gave way to a picture perfect warm Spring San Diego Day. By the time players were signing their score cards the perfect 78-80 degree warm breeze was in full force . We can only thank our dear Lord for a nice day !
Ted Clinite continues to keep his top seed on the leader board. He again proved his “A” game golf skills by shooting at “36” on the front nine. For some reason, he had a few hiccups on the back nine but still he posted a strong score to take a 1st place win in the “A’ Flight. In Flight B, Tom Martinson (his first event) coming off a sports injury, proved he has golf skills and posted a low gross 79 ! Taking the low gross honors and over all LOW NET honors Tom claimed 115 points today to put himself in contention. Way to go Tom ! Curtis Chan ( his 2nd event of year) also has been slowly coming back to his return to golf. He reports his rehabilitation schedule and physical therapy is helping him gain back some of his golf game skills. Today the “A/B” game showed up and was good enough to earn him some needed points.
There’s plenty more golf waiting to be played in our golf season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs. Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
Additional golf events that are outside of of our golf schedule are:
Thursday, June 30 – Stan White Memorial Golf Event – Encinitas Ranch GC / All are welcome
Friday-Saturday, July 29-30 – Journey at Pechanga / Temecula Creek Inn GC – Summer Golf Extravaganza
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
