 COVID 19 – Pandemic

All of us have been effected by this unprecedented situation, where many of us are out of work, confined to our homes with the “stay in shelter” order, and have been patiently waiting since mid March 2020 for “normal” pace of life to return.  This past week was a turning point for our San Diego area as “golf restrictions” were lifted to some extent, and courses were allowed to open up with guarded regulations.   Your  Seacoast Christian GC Tournament Committee was diligent in creating a pathway for us to get first dibs on getting out on a course for the May 1, 2020 start.  Twenty brave golfers dusted off their golf bags tried to reactivate golf swings that seemed to have been hidden in a closet somewhere and took advantage of warm Spring weather with perfect sunny skies.  Of course “walking only” was the only way they could get around the course, but the time was right and those who came out surely were blessed by the opportunity to refresh our entire beings to the great outdoors.

Social distancing was encouraged, and wearing of  “face masks” was mandated.  Hopefully, those who could not make will will have an opportunity to  venture out soon at a nearby course and get your swing back into action.  See below for some of the latest news on our “new golf restrictions” when playing during these times.

Recap Event 5 – Today Twenty brave golfers showed up in systematic order to play the “new golf restrictions” format for San Diego Golf.  Thanks to all the field who conformed and followed the guidelines.  Twin Oaks GC thanks each player for abiding by their rules and not making any fuss over some of the restrictions.  Some of the note worthy items were:  walking only (no golf carts), making the round at least a 5 mile walk.  No golf course restrooms (all locked up) except at the club house.  Restricted food / beverage availability only at clubhouse.  Masks required (at least in areas near golf chop) as we practiced new golf social distancing rules.

Some actions notes:  Hole #1 – After hitting a very mediocre drive, Kent Coykendall fired at the pin with his second shot of the day and holed out  (190 yards) to make his “EAGLE” for the day.   Nicely done Kent !   Or course some of our steady players again proved that even though we had a break in golf, some player’s golf games just don’t shut done.  Ted Clinite showcased his game by playing  just about “flawless” golf and balanced any “bogey” holes with a hand full of birdies thus keeping his scores in the low zone.

Ted’s steady play has catapult him back into the Top #1 seeded position which has been owned these past few months by Kevin Barrett.  Kevin also played well, but just not good enough to compete today with Mr. Clinite.
