For our events, players are placed in golf “Flights” depending on their golf abilities reflected from their official monthly golf indices. With that, players will be competing in a few categories. Within their respective “Flights” players will compete for LOW GROSS scoring. Then against the entire field of players, each player will score points from NET SCORING against the field. There are individual points that can be earned from: “Best Nine” low gross scoring, “NET SKINS” scoring, and “Pin Competition” holes (closest to pin / long drive holes). All the scores are tallied up each month and players will earn points according what they did that day.

Recap Event 4 – With our fourth event (1st Major) in the books, we had a great showing of 26 players who came out to play. The weather was picture perfect as the early morning 60 degree weather gave way to a picture perfect warm Spring San Diego Day. By the time players were signing their score cards the 90 degree heat was in full force . We can only thank our dear Lord for a nice day ! This course is full of challenge and will test all facets of your golf game. Even though the course had greens that had been worked on 10 days before, the overall course play was fantastic. Players were warned about the slowness of the greens, and only those who made the adjustment would prevail. The overall competition proved to be tight as players were tested in every aspect of their game.
Ted Clinite continues to keep his top seed on the leader board. Several players made some big strides from today’s competition and added big points to their totals. Bill Locken (1st event of the year) showed off his golf skills with his new clubs. Just 2 weeks ago, he reported that his favored clubs were stolen from his truck at Encinitas Ranch right in their parking lot. Bill still misses his stolen clubs, but he proved the golf game is in his skills, not in his clubs. Bill racked up over 270 points and now he is right in the mix of players bidding for the 2022 Trophy. Jay Petty also came out today and earned himself 220 points to put him in 3rd place. Jay started the day in the 12th seeded position, but with his steady play and earning Low Net honors today, earned him “Major” points to climb the leader board. Other players who earned 200+ points to add to their totals and helped them climb the leader board were: Brian Carter and Ken Gunn. Way to go guys !!
It’s early in the season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs. Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
