Match Play Card Off

The players in the field were all matched up according to their monthly indices.  Players competed on a “Card Off” match play against players on the monthly index sheet.  Players who won their match would earn 50 points.  Tie matches would allow each player to earn 25 points.  Below are the ‘Card Off – Match Play” matches.

Team Waltz Competition

Players were additionally paired up in “Card off  Team Waltz -Teams” using their monthly indices.  The field was divided up creating 9 teams for the competition.  The tournament committee used a format that equally placed players from respective “flights” so each team had players from each playing ability.  In this format, players would user their “Net” scoring in the following team format.  1st hole – ONE best score. 2nd Hole – TWO best “net” scores.  Hole #3 THREE best “net” scores.  Hole #4 ONE best score.  Hole #5 – TWO best scores….repeating all the way though 18 holes.  Lowest Team NET scores wins 100 points.  Results for each team and the “Team Waltz Competition” are posted below.

TEAM WALTZ RESULTS are posted below in the following table.  Points are awarded to each team according to the “Major Points” table.

Recap Event 4 – With our fourth event in the books, our players enjoyed a  great day of golf  on one of Southern California’s premier golf course here at The Journey at Pechanga GC.  The course was in great shape and greens ran true.  Players had to bring out all their golf skills both mentally and physically to take on this gem of a course.  Of course having course knowledge and “golf management” skills were needed to be successful today.  Ebin Smith took on “Low Gross ” honors with a score of 78, but a very close 2nd place was posted by Tom Martinson who posted a very respectable 79 score today.  Way to go guys!   In the “B Flight” division, new comers to out golf group, Scott Beaudoin posted a low gross 84 to earn himself 100 pts towards his points totals.  Also close behind Scott is Ross Dwelley who posted a smooth 87.  In the “Flight C” division, Curtis Chan (87) and Kevin Barrett (91) proved that they can keep their game in play and keep competitive as they both added “major points” towards their points total.  In our “Flight D” group, Steve Knorr lead this group posting a low gross 97, and was being chased by Bill Miller who came in 2nd today.

A big congratulations to Tom Martinson and Curtis Chan  for showcasing their “A” game skills.  Both of them maintained their golf composure and kept their golf blunders to a minimum to score the Low Net score of 72 today !

Curtis Chan today earned 350 “major” points today, which catapulted his position to the top of the leaderboard. Curtis started the day in 11th position.   Ebin Smith who started the day in 12 position, shot his way around the course today and earned 340 “major points” and is very close behind Curtis.  Other noteworthy moves today on our leaderboard was Tom Martinson who racked up 300 “major points” and put himself in the mix towards our Seacoast Cup playoffs which start in a few months.   For those who are new to the club, at the end of our regular golf season (mid August) we move into our “playoff season” where our top 24 players will go into “match play” competition to earn playoff points to see who can rack up as many points to earnt their way to the 2023 Seacoast Cup Championship Trophy.  All players have a chance, so get your game in gear and be ready to have more fun.

Our golf season is now in full swing,  and there’s a large group of guys now eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs.   The competition is fierce and every point counts.    Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.  All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily.  Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
