News and Results – Event 4 – Riverwalk GC / 27 hole event – Presidio / Mission / Friars Course
Welcome to our 4th event of the 2017 Seacoast Cup Golf Tour. Our April tour stop has taken us to the weathered surviving Riverwalk GC. Even though the storms of February 2017 took their aim at flooding Mission Valley and this fun golf course, the challenge of competitive tournament golf was waiting for our field of players. The 27 holes surely tested all facets of the golf game and in the end, only those players who controlled their swing, kept their balls in play, and lined up their putts with the corrected putting speed, enjoyed the results of low scores. Congratulations to our winners:
Welcome to several players who have made their 1st appearance to our Seacoast Tour golf season this year: Arch Underwood, Chris Martz, and Dan Converse. We hope you all come back and enjoy another round with our group.
Competition Format: For scoring competition today, the 27 holes would be scored as TWO 18 hole events. Since all Three 9 hole courses would be played in the order of : Presidio , Mission, Friars – the event will be score as 2 rounds of golf:
1. Presidio / Mission Course (69.7 / 122)
2. Mission / Friars Course (69.9 / 121)
All players would have their indices determine their course handicaps, and then medal stroke play would be instituted with Low Gross / Low Net Scoring. Net Skins and Competition pins would also be in play on all courses.
Below are the results. Congratulations to our winners:

Quest for the 2017 Seacoast Cup– This year will be filled with full of fun times on the golf course. Monthly Friday events will be available for golf stroke play competition. All players who have an office SCGA index will be place in respective flights to compete with players of their own golf playing ability / potential. Players will earn points according to their placing in each event. Two Major events will be available for a 27 hole competition (April / July) where there will be an increased value in earned points. September begins the “Playoff Season” where twenty players will earn their way to this year’s match play event. Points are earned by finishing well in both individual low gross and low net score postings. Additionally points may earned in different team and individual events ranging from match play, 4 man team best ball, and 2 man best ball events. Net Skins are also another category that allows players to add points to their monthly points.
Remember only those players who have an Official SCGA or USGA golf index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian Golf Club Points System. Players who participate in our events who do not have an official golf index / handicap, will be assigned a “Flight” depending on their level of play. These players also may be assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for team net play points. Players who desire to qualify for Seacoast Christian GC Playoffs, must be a member of our SCGA affiliate club. For information on how to become a member and to obtain an official golf index contact Curtis Chan and visit : Membership and SCGA.
Leader board – Our 27-hole Major event has produce new leaders to our leader board. Several players took advantage of the opportunity to earn “big” points by showing up and going low on the score card. Also many opportunities to win skins and pins allowed players to add extra needed points to their monthly totals. In doing so, Ted Clinite successfully grabbed the top spot this month and now is positioning himself towards the summer run. Other players to take note are: Geoff Baynes, Charlie Kellogg, Rik Thistle, Bruce Huebner, and Craig Johnson who all have proven they have and “A” game and now are positioned themselves on the upper part of the leader board. As we approach the middle of our “Spring” swing, get ready to fire at the pins at Arrowood GC for our next tour stop.
