Today we had 32 players come out to compete in our Seacoast Christian GC  first “Major” event of the year, where increased value in points scoring were waiting to be won.  Those players who brought their “A” game and those who were successful in navigating this challenging course would find their points scoring endeavors today be very positive.  Also the Par 3 “Pine Glen” course made available high point scoring as “net birdie” scoring points were an added plus to those players who had their short game in good order.

The tournament committee placed all players in their respective Official Playing Course Handicap groups.

Flight A –  handicap 3-10

Flight B –  handicap 11-14

Fight  C –  handicap 15-18

Fight  D –  handicap 19-35

A big welcome to the following players who came out for their first time this year:  David DeMoss,  Jim Piper,  Steve Ferriot, Tom Liscum, Tom Abrell, Bill Buchanan, John Jensen,  and Nathan Haug…welcome back to the golf group .

We were blessed with picture perfect spring time San Diego sunny weather.   The temperature began in the 60’s but nicely warmed up into the mid 70’s with a light breeze to keep all the players in great spirits.

A big “Thank YOU” to our first group off the tee at 7:28a who kept a great pace and also placed out all the pin competition proximity markers (total 16) for today’s  36 hole competition…thank you Jeff S / David D/ Rik T / Ryan A…..your help in getting these out was a Big Help for our group today.

Here are pictures of all the 8 tee time groups from this event.

Final Results

The 2nd part of today’s event involved 18 holes of “Par 3 – executive golf” where players show cased their short game skills.   Plenty of opportunities were give to the field as 25% of their official monthly index was taken to calculate a course handicap.   The tournament committee determined to have 3 flights for the competition.

Flight A – Handicaps 1-3

Flight B – Handcaps 4

Flight C – Handicap 5-9

Scoring also involved closest to the pins on every other hole.  10 points would be won for “closet to the pin” winners.  Additionally “Natural Birdies” were awarded 15 points.  Net Birdies and Net Eagles would also earn points (see table below).  Anyone today who “ACES” (hole in one) their Par 3 shot would win 100 points.

For those who played the 2nd 18 holes (Par 3  “Pine Glen” course) here is the scoring

As predicted by our tournament committee, this “Major” event  allowed several players to catapult their overall standings to the upper levels of our leader board.    A fun filled day of golf.  Great weather,  with  friendly fun faces.    What an enjoyable  36 hole golf event at Singing Hills (Sycuan) GC !

Recap Event 4 – With four events in the books, we have reached the half way point of our 2021 Seacoast Cup golf season.  There are still plenty of golf events available to score points to make the 2021 Seacoast Cup Playoffs starting September 2021.   Our leader board is still headed up by Ted Clinite who was able to key in his “A” game on both courses but mostly he took advantage of his short game skills on the Par 3 Pine Glen course and added big time scoring points to add to his monthly totals.   Ted added 85 points from “pin” competition points.  Today he knocked in 5 “natural birdies” on the Par 3 Pine course !

Ted fired a 55 (+1)  score on this challenging par 3 course.     At the end of the day he ended up winning a total of 381 points to solidify his “top of the leader board” position.  Way to go Ted !

Other notables were Lee Fitzgerald who made a strong showing today to also add 305 points to keep his #2 position on our leader board.  Ken Gunn made a great showing from Fight D and  even took Low Net honors (low net 68)  for the morning round.  Ken earned 340 points to elevate his position from T19 to a respected 4th place.  Paul Deveau also shot an excellent morning round of 85 which helped him climb from 14th place to now 3rd place.  Ebin Smith also carved his way around the Par 3 course to sink 3 “natural birdies” which helped his cause to bounce from 31st place to 7th position.  Way to go guys !!

The Seacoast Christian GC golf season now in full stride with players making their moves on the leader board.  If you plan to come out mark your calendars for the remainder events listed on our events calendar.
