The Field – The Champions Course at La Costa Resort
Player Tribute – Last month we lost one of our players, Jeff Liscomb. Jeff didn’t play in all of our events, but when he was present our golf group you couldn’t miss him and his 6’7” stature. A good friend of our golf buddy Lee Fitzgerald, Jeff is survived by his dear wife, Jan , and college daughter, Shaney.
Some of you might remember that Jeff had a “hole in one” (#11 Legends) a few years back here at La Costa GC . Jeff (left in picture) truly enjoyed being in the outdoors and Dr. Lee Fitzgerald (right) made sure he enjoyed golf with us on the course. Jeff was diagnosed almost a decade ago with cancer. A few weeks ago the battle to beat his cancer finally ended. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family. If you want to know more about Jeff on his web page that has a “celebrate the life of Jeff” tribute visit:

“Triple Play Points” – a new addition to our golf club’s points scoring collection. This entails taking low net scores from players who have participated in 3 successive events. Player’s totals from low net scoring are added from our first 3 events and compared against other players who qualify for these points. Depending on how many players qualified, the points are distributed in descending order from lowest scoring to high. Note: only players who have participated in the first 3 events of our golf season qualify for the “triple play points” scoring.
Recap Event 3 – Today was a challenging day on the golf course. The “Champions” course at La Costa surely lived up to its reputation as being tough and difficult. Players were easily finding themselves saving double and triple bogeys on their cards. Three putt experience was just about rampant amoungst the group. Some players did manage the challenges of today and kept their blunders to a minimum. Here are a few Noteables: Ted Clinite once again proved his “A” game can reign as he posted a back nine 39 on this difficult course.! Tom Devaney and Craig Johnson had a good day by scoring low gross 87. Today if you broke 90 you had a good day. Johnson kept all facets of his game intact and posted a low net 73! Todd Lytel held his own and kept his card intact by not having too many “blow up” holes. His efforts today got him a #1 placing in the “D” flight group. The day was full of fun play, great weather, and challenging golf. If you had a difficult time today, get ready for our next event next month….It’s “Major Time”….we are schedule to play Singing Hills GC at Sycuan Resort and we plan to play the full course 18 holes, then followed by 18 holes of “Par 3” executive course. Point value for this upcoming event will be highly increased so if you have not had a chance to score well in the first 3 events, this will be a great opportunity to rack up some points.
Next Event – Friday, April 3, 2020 – Singing Hills at Sycuan Golf Resort – (36 hole competition) / 7:30a start $95 per player includes range / cart
