News and Results – Event 15 “Winter Golf Event” – Champions Course at Omni La Costa Resort GC
Today we had an incredible day of golf at this San Diego iconic course. Although saturated by rains for 48 hours, the course still drained nicely and allowed us to play our scheduled event. Those who came out to test their golf course skills, we truly greeted by a nice sunshine day of golf in December. The “Champions” course played tough and many players found themselves double checking their score cards as they had to add more to their usual stroke count. If you found the rough, you paid a price. A few players came out with the their “A” game while others could only shake their head as they loaded their clubs back into their car. A big thanks for our tournament committee who were able to get a great deal on our round to play this gem of a course. Stay tuned as we just might return again next year December 2019.

Heath Update on our dear friend and golfer Bill Brackett
Many of you have inquired as to how Bill Brackett was doing. Bill has been part of our group for over 10 years. He has been a steady golf participant until a couple of years ago (2016) when he had a turn in his health and had to battle cancer that was discovered. As you know Bill’s fighting spirit and amazing positive outlook on life helped him battle his ordeal to be able to return to back golf. He even participated in several events this year with his hopes to getting into the playoffs. Bill was posting rounds up until a few months ago. Just 3 weeks ago, his oncologist gave him some bad news. The cancer has returned and their’s not much more that can be done for him. Bill says that the prognosis for him is that he has just about 2 to 3 more months before his body can’t bear it any longer. Bill knows that many of you have been thinking and praying for him. He explains…”Devastating news to be sure, but my wife and I are both handling it reasonably well and I am content and at peace with this. I know I will be in the arms of my Savior when I get home! I want to express my sincere thanks for all your thoughts and prayers these past years.” He wrote in an email: “Thank you all in the group who have provided such good times on the course with me… I have had such wonderful times playing with you in this Seacoast Christian Golf Group. As for now, I am beyond golfing anymore and have to save my energies for doctors visits. I try to get out to church and an occasional brief visit to a local restaurant with my wife and friends. I will be with my Lord soon and I am at peace with that and at times looking forward to it sooner than later. It has been a wonderful journey and He has kept me all the way. Blessings to you all !“

Bill has been an example of being a “Champion in Life“….thank you Bill for all your friendship and great times we have had with you these past years. We know your pains and agonies of this life will move into Joy and Peace as you move on into Eternity with our God. Blessing to you !!

As a kind Christmas gesture, the tournament committee will not report your cash winnings to the PGA , USGA or SCGA so that your “amature” status will remain intact for the 2019 golf season.

Note: All players who desire to obtain their winnings, need to reply back to Curtis and provide a mailing address so your winnings can be mailed to you. The golf tournament committee has also modernized their accounts payable office and they are able to provide payments through “Venmo”

NEXT EVENT – Our next event will be on Friday, January 11, 2019. This will launch our 1st event for our new 2019 Seacoast Christian Golf Club golf season.
