Event 15 – Omni La Costa Golf Resort / Champions Course – Friday, December 11, 2020

A Great Way to end our Golf Season –  The threat of “Frost Freeze Delay” was forecasted earlier in the week, but Friday’s morning weather at the course turned out to be a beautiful perfect San Diego “Winter Golf” day.  Temperatures started at a chilly 48 degrees, but by the time the Winter sun came out, it warmed up to a comfortable 72 degress.   Some players showcased their “Christmas Golf Attire” and for some it may have put some “Christmas Joy and Cheer” into their swing as several players put out their Christmas  “A” Game and took on the challenge of this most unpredictable course.  Several players came off the course today, murmuring under their breaths that they just couldn’t believe how tough this course is.   Our field of players sure got a dose of “challenging La Costa golf” as many players posted higher scores than their norm.  It was truly a battle to see who could manage their game, keep their cool, and putt well enough to avoid the “3 putt +” woes.

Today’s competition involved:  Low Gross (flighted) / Low Net / Low Net Skins / Longest Drive/ Closest to Pin / Team Waltz Scoring.  Players who desired to get into the $$ Prize pool contributed $5.00 each.    The tournament committee would tally up the results and pay out the following:

1st / 2nd / 3rd  Place Low Gross (per flight)

1st Place Low Net

Low Net Skins

Closest to Pins / Longest Drive Holes

1st Place Team Waltz Winners

A Big Welcome to Newcomers:  John Duddy, Mike Macau, Matt Hannen, Skyler Heyman

An added measure of golf competition will be added that involves low gross / net scoring combined over several events that will enable players to win points in a new category.  Player’s points totals will ultimately determine your seeding in the year end playoffs.  We will still have “Match Play” events in the playoffs, but the added year end points and multiple events scoring will add another factor in who becomes the next 2021 Seacoast Cup Champion.  Stay tuned for a fun filled 2021 golf season.
