Event 14 – November 13, 2020- President’s Cup – Lunch of Champions – Prize & Awards Tournament – Arrowood GC

Our Annual End of Year Season / Prize & Awards / President’s Cup Format Tournament to be held at Arrowood GC, Oceanside on Friday, November 13, 2020.  Tee times begin at 7:00a.  Cost is $75.   Total field 36 players.

This event is filled with tough competition, great fun, laughs, and celebration as we come to the end of our 2020 Golf Season.  We are so thankful in the midst of a major Pandemic COVID 19 has taken its toll, but we were able to still find refuge in the game that we all love and are thankful to be able to see each other on the golf course.

This event is where the field of players are evenly divided into TWO teams  – RED TEAM / BLUE TEAM.  Each team will be “Captained” by our 2019 Seacoast Cup Champion – Richard Mulligan, and our newest 2020 Seacoast Cup Champion – Rik Thistle.

The tournament committee had a “team choose up / pairings meeting” via Zoom this past Tuesday evening.  The choosing of teams and making of the pairings was full of fun and gamesmanship as both captains made their decisions as to who would match up best against each other.  Below are the respective teams RED / BLUE and the playing format which will take place.   In some cases, if your match does not involve your respective playing foursome group, the tournament committee will have a “CARD OFF” when all the cards are turned in.

The main focus and strategy for Friday is for all players to bring their “A” game, play each hole as if it meant everything, and try to post a low score.   When we do the team scoring afterward, you will see how this all plays out….it will be filled with FUN and laughter.

The Score Card

NOTE POSTING  – this round should be posted as an AWAY game rather than a COMPETITION round.  Also please be aware that since the #13 hole was being worked on, and that the normal “5 par hole” was turned into a “par 3” hole, as an astute golfer and posting correctly, players need to make sure they adjusted the #13 hole to reflect a Par 5 hole.  So if you scored a “3” – par for the day, it should be posted as a “5” .  The above score card has been adjusted for ALL players in the field reflecting this change.    If you scored a bogey, then it will be posted as a “6” (1 over par).  If you scored a double bogey on the day of play – a “5”, then the hole is posted as an adjusted score as “7” for the Ghin.Com posting system.  If you have any questions, please email me.

Any players who are not familiar with the new WHS system (World Handicap System) which was adopted this past year by USGA / GHIN / SCGA,  you as a responsible golfer should familiarize yourself with the adjustments from the older system.  The new system revolves around the concept “double net bogey” as posting is based on this concept.

Our 2020 Champion was awarded his well earned trophy –

The President’s Cup match was well fought but ultimately, the BLUE team cleaned up on the points and reigned supreme on the RED team.  Thanks to the field of players who were patient as the “live” scoring format for the President’s Cup was tabulated and the entire field had to be accounted for before the final results were tallied.

Everyone who came today left with prizes from golf rounds, golf apparel, golf balls, golf bags.   Ebin Smith won in the raffle the coveted 2020 Ryder Cup Team bag.  Other big prize winners were special golf outings to SantaLuz – Winners Geoff Baynes and Jay Petty.  Overall, it was a successful day for all, full of fun, new friendships made, and some extra golf items to use in future golf rounds.

The golf committee wants to thank you all for participating and making 2020 a memorable golf year .
