For our events, players are placed in golf “Flights” depending on their golf abilities reflected from their official monthly golf indices. With that, players will be competing in a few categories. Within their respective “Flights” players will compete for LOW GROSS scoring. Then against the entire field of players, each player will score points from NET SCORING against the field. There are individual points that can be earned from: “Best Nine” low gross scoring, “NET SKINS” scoring, and “Pin Competition” holes (closest to pin / long drive holes). All the scores are tallied up each month and players will earn points according what they did that day.

Notes: Ross Mitchell vs. Jay Petty – both players declared on the practice range that “nerves” were on edge as they both realized that this next match determined who would get to the final championship round. Ross led off with a solid par, and Jay missed a needed putt to tie to let Ross take an early lead. Jay kept his composure until he went on a “bogey spree” for several holes. Ross opened the door with a few double bogeys and Jay was able to slow down the momentum for a bit until Ross ended the front nine with a solid 4 Up lead. A glimmer of hope was found on hole #10 when Jay scored Par, while Ross took the “snowman” to really open things up. But Jay didn’t take advantages of opportunities given by Ross and by hole #15, Ross kept the 4Up lead to seal the match.
Notes: Johnny Li vs. Brian Carter – In the pre match interview media room both players showed noticeably their “worries and fears” of the upcoming semi -finals match. Johnny declared that he’s been here before but was not successful in his semi finals match from last year. Brian reported that he’s still can’t believe he’s made it this far, and hopes to keep the momentum going. Johnny scored a par on the 1st hole as Brian missed his putt to tie and took a bogey. But on #2, Johnny took a double bogey as Brian took advantage of his stoke to win a hole and TIE the match. The players went back and forth with Johnny taking a 1 UP lead into the back nine But then Brian made some crucial golf mistakes and took triple bogey on holes #10 and 11 to allow Johnny grab a 3 UP lead. This proved to be a back breaker as Johnny kept the pressure on Brian to Win on hole 15 with a 4UP lead.

Recap Event 12– With Twelve golf event in the books, we had a showing of 21 players who came out to play on a perfect weather golf day. The course was in pretty good conditions with greens running smooth and true. Players just had to make sure they found the short grass fairways to have a good chance at hitting the greens in regulation. If you didn’t find the fairway today, you better then have your “A” game short game skills to get out of trouble. The tensions were running high especially with those four finalist in the Championship bracket.
To the Action Today ! Ross Mitchell and Johnny Li came out Match Play winners in today’s competition, giving them both a ticket to the 2022 Seacoast Cup Championship Match. Congratulations !! Brian Carter and Jay Petty both had great runs this season and will square off for the “consolation match” to determine 3rd and 4th place winners at our next event. John Riggs still has enough points to keep him at the top of our leader board in the Player’s Cup division, but several players are lurking around to take that spot. Steve Knorr, fired a LOW NET 66 to earn him much need playoff points to put him within reach of becoming a Player’s Cup Champion. Other notables and having great chances of earning a top spot are: Scott Crockett and John Estill. It will be a battle to the end, and our next event will be a showdown to see who can get those late playoff points to take them to the top.

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
