Those players who win sufficient points by winning their match, posting low gross / net scores may fall within the qualifications to earn their invite to the next round that keeps them on the road to the 2019 Seacoast Cup Championship Match. Here is the schedule of rounds:
NOTE:
Today’s round allows players in the Championship Bracket to earn as many points to stay or push them into the Semi Finals. All matches are worth 400 points. “Tie Matches” will split the points (175 pts. each).
Now to the action:
Players came out ready to go as the sun broke though the morning clouds and to give perfect warmth for a nice day of golf. Our Top 8 Championship players all had their serious golf faces on as the intense level of championship playoff match play got underway. A big “Thank You” to Ted Clinite and Kevin Barrett for taking on tournament host duties and getting all the groups off efficiently. Also thank you to the field of play for minding the push to keep the “PACE OF PLAY” going for the day.
The Score Card
A day of upsets and surprising victories as players returned and turned in their score cards. A big congratulations to the winners of Championship Matches that allow winners to move on into the Semi Finals. Players who continue on the “Player’s Bracket” will continue to earn points that will ultimately determine the Player’s Cup Champion.
Our current 2018 Champion, Paul Deveau lost his match and will not be able to continue to defend his title. Ted Clinite played steady and was able to overcome a nice 2019 playoff run from Paul D, but his “A” game was not good enough to keep up with Ted’s “A” game.
The battle of Riggs vs. Mulligan came down the wire and it was a matter of who had the guts to keep their composer to the end. Riggs had “sand bunker” gitters and had difficulty getting out of the 18 th hole greenside bunker which cost him the match. Richard Mulligan wins and now gets to continue on into the Semi Finals.
In the Smith vs. Thistle match, Rik Thistle manages to hang tough against the low handicapper Ebin Smith. Smith, who has been on a low scoring playing spree these past few weeks, was reported to having ended up drawing blanks all day as he just couldn’t get his swing in gear. By the time he felt his game, he was already too far down and Rik Thistle took the match at 5 and 4.
Post season play involves points earned solely from LOW GROSS and LOW NET play as well of WINS or TIES in Match Play. Also our normal “NET SKINS” scoring is not available for post season play.
Below are the MATCH PLAY score cards. Winners earn 300 points. Tie matches award each player 150 points.
CONGRATULATIONS to those of you how made it to the TOP 4 – you’ll be receiving your tournament invite to the “Semi Finals” Top 4 Championship Cup to confirm your spot.
