Here’e the line up of matches for Friday –
Those players who win sufficient points by winning their match, posting low gross / net scores may fall within the qualifications to earn their invite to the next round that keeps them on the road to the 2019 Seacoast Cup Championship Match. Here is the schedule of rounds:
NOTE:
Today’s round allows players in the Championship Bracket to earn as many points to stay or push them into the TOP 8. All matches are worth 300 points. “Tie Matches” will split the points (150 pts. each).
Now to the action:
Players came early to warm up and get their practice in before their rounds. There were media reports of a few TOP 16 players who came out this week for practice rounds to insure their course books were filled with all the details of landing areas, slopes of greens, and potential danger areas which could compromise a good golf round. The weather was picture perfect as the golf got underway at 7:00a. A big thank you to the field for keeping up the “PACE OF PLAY” and insure our groups kept up with each other.
A tough battle for many as they reported into the scorer’s table and explained who won their match and who had a difficult time on the course today. Of course the final tally would come later when the results and total points were accounted for. Many player needed “Cinderella stories” to become reality as they needed other matches to help their cause to continue on in the playoffs. Some players took matters into their own hands and right off took control of their matches. A few matches ended up in TIES to split the points. One match still pending as Kent Coykendall has been out of town but finally can make his match happen later this week vs. Chan.
Big congratulations to Paul Deveau (our current 2018 Champion), who has skillfully and successfully climbed the scoring ladder to take over top seed #1 on the Leader Board. Paul put a new set of irons and drives in his bag 3 months ago, and now is benefiting from his investment in the latest golf technology. He is hoping to prove that he is worth of defending his title.
There are several hungry players in the field who have hung around all season, and are now awaiting their opportunity to get into the next tier of the Championship Bracket. Diligent practice at the range and working on their short games to perfect iron play has proved to be the recipe of post season success.
Note: A last minute change in playing status allowed Bill Abrell to take an open spot to compete today in the Championship Bracket. Unfortunately an early morning call from Ryan Alexander who had to deal with multiple family issues, informing the golf committee of his WD (withdrawal) from the post season play. With that, 1st Alternate, Bill Abrell is able to play a match vs. Rik Thistle.
Below are all the match play cards…many upsets, and many TIE Matches ..but in the end a lot of fun !
Post season play involves points earned solely from LOW GROSS and LOW NET play as well of WINS or TIES in Match Play. Also our normal “NET SKINS” scoring is not available for post season play.
Below are the MATCH PLAY score cards. Winners earn 300 points. Tie matches award each player 150 points.
NOTE: Match #7 Chan vs. Coykendall will be played later this week. All results that are posted without the results of Match 7.
CONGRATULATIONS to those of you how made it to the TOP 8 – you’ll be receiving your tournament invite to the “Quarter Finals” Top 8 Championship Cup to confirm your spot.
