Tee Times & Pairings / White Tee

We had 29 players show up for this Friday, September 10 event at The Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort.   Today’s challenge involved an 18 hole challenge which included our second of 5 “Playoff” events.  Today’s  event involved players being matched up in “Match Play” according to their seeded positions on our regular season leader board.  Our top 4 players will square off with each other over the next 2 events, while the rest of the field fights for “playoff points” to see if they can make their way into the “TOP 8” by event 11.     Today there would be 100 points earned for players with a WIN match.  Matches that end in a TIE would have both players awarded 50 points.  Also points would be earned in our normal LOW GROSS / LOW NET / LOW NET Skins , as  well as pin competitions.  As we near the end of our golf season, our playing format will allow us to determine our “Seacoast Cup Club 2021 Champion.”  The player who earns the most points will take home the trophy this year.

GREAT SCORING / NET SKINS / PIN COMPETITION WINNERS

Recap Event 9 – Today 29 golfers showed up to play the challenging and beautiful RBI golf course.   The course did present some challenges in that the tournament committee instituted a “preferred lies” ruling for today’s play.  Due to inconsistent fairways, it would only be fair for the players to not be penalized for driving a ball directly down the fairway and not ending up on nice grassy turf.   Todays accommodation “preferred lies” / lift clean and place ruling provided needed relief and fairness to today’s round.    As the day became warmer and the sun made its way onto the greens, they certainly became fast and quick.  Only those players who made adjustments in their game were able to manage this challenge.  Match Play points were up for grabs again, and several players were in the hunt to make it to the “TOP 8” .   Those who had their “A” game on display today, and those players who were able to get a “WIN” in their match, earned their way to the top of the leader board.

Increased Hitting Distances Detrimental To Future Of Golf ...

To the ACTION:  Our top 4 seeded players were match up.  Ted Clinite / Geoff  Baynes / John Casey / Ross Mitchell.   With the regular season points they have won, their fate today was intact and protected.  While seeded players #5 on down the the leader board were matched up in match play competition.  The goal of early “Post Season Playoff” play is to earn as many playoff points to get into the TOP 8 by the end of the day.  Today’s event also affords players to win points in Low Gross / Low Net categories, along with hole closest to the pin and long drive competitions.  Net Skins are also taken into account.   Every point counts and the more you earn, the higher you rise on the leader board.

Before today’s event, seeded players #5-20 all had their playoff hopes alive as so many scenarios were present that would determine today’s outcome.  Having “match play”, “low gross / low net scoring” along with added competition pin competition points every point matters at this junction.  Brian Carter  posted a low gross 91/ low net 76  in the “Flight C” .  He played steady and kept pace with the talented Ryan Alexander in his match and ended up winning.   This much needed playoff win along with his good scoring earned him 270 points today.   Brian’s “rise to the occasion” also landed him into the 8th seeded spot after starting the day at #16.  Way to go Brian !!   David DeMoss also show cased his golf skills by posting the low nine scores on both front and back nines.  He also earned 270 points, but his late season push to get to the top of the leader board has come to an end as he went from 21st place to now 15th.   Kent Coykendall, pushed his way to the 7th spot today as he won against Kevin Barrett in close match.  Kent earned 204 points today to keep his playoff hopes burning.    H,  winning his Fight “A” group, and earning 210 points.  His late season points has moved him from 27 to 21st place.  Curtis Chan  had the 5th seeded spot at the beginning of the day, but his “A” game turned into something he chose not to described in the media room.  His loss to Jim Hopson didn’t help his chances today and he fell out of the Champion playoff picture to 13th place.  Chan reports he’s off the the golf drawing board.  Bruce Huebner came out today with his “A” game and had a 1st place showing in “Flight D” with a Low Gross 90 / Low Net 74.  Unfortunately his late season playoff push didn’t get him into the Quarter Finals.  Ebin Smith had high  hopes today, but he needed to post a low gross / low net score to get the needed push into the TOP 8…unfortunately, today’s round didn’t grant him the pass.  Geoff Baynes kept his foot on the accelerator and pushed his way to the top of our leader board.  Ted Clinite had a “sub par” day and left the door open for Geoff to slide into the #1 Top spot.  Way to go Geoff !!

Our next event will be Friday, September 24, 2021.  We be playing the beautiful and challenging Golf Club of California in Fallbrook.  The cost is $65 / player.  Tee times begin at 7:30a.      Reply back on this email to get a spot in the field.  Field is limited to 28 players.

The Leader Board  –  Your  TOP 8 players have taken their spots.   Congratulations to:  Geoff Baynes, Ted Clinite, John Casey, Paul Deveau, Johnny Li, Ross Mitchell, Kent Coykendall, and Brian Carter.  You all have worked hard on your game, put it on the line of competition and have been successful in getting to the Quarter Finals.  Now the points available for the rest of the Playoff Season will increase in value and we’ll see who can get to the Championship Finals.   The tournament committee wishes you all the best in putting all your skills together, and playing well from this points forward.

Player’s Cup Bracket -2021 – for all the players who did not make it into the TOP 8, there is still plenty of competition left for our golf season.  As the TOP 8 make their way up their bracket, the rest of the field can still compete for points to determine our “player’s cup bracket” champion.   Players will still come out for our remaining events, and we’ll have enough competition and fun to make golf memories of a lifetime.

Also for the remainder of the year, the value for Low Gross / Low Net  placing shall be according to the following “Seacoast Cup Playoff ” points scoring tables:

2021 Seacoast Cup Championship –  this is the post season play that will determine our club champion.  Starting August 27, 2021, players will participate in “Match Play” and Stroke Low Gross / Low Net play and compete for elevated “Playoff Points.”   The more points you earn, the higher up the bracket you’ll be.  On September 24, 2021 event, the Top 8 players will match up again in “Match Play” with Seed #1 vs. Seed #8 / Seed #2 vs. Seed #7  etc….At the end of the round….The TOP 4 players in points earnings will continue to the Semi Finals.  Those players who don’t make it into the TOP 8 will play in the “Player’s Bracket” and still continue to earn points.   This year the focus is on how many points one earns throughout the year and playoffs, determine how deep you can go into becoming The Champion.  One may have enough points in their standings to endure a “Loss” in post season match play and still continue in the competition towards the top spot in becoming the 2021 Seacoast Cup Champion.
