We had a fresh start to our 2026 golf season.   The early morning temps at the course were a brisk 40 degrees on hole #1, but by the time the sun warmed up the course we had a “chamber of commerce” day.   When players came to the turn for the back nine, they were greeted by 70-80 degree “California Winter”  warm golf conditions.   This course has it’s reputation on “eating you alive” if you don’t get the ball in the right locations from tee to green.  Only those who committed to their strategy and course management skills overcame the tough challenges and posted a decent low score.
Welcome to all those new comers to our club.  Most of the players in the field are all signed up for the 2025 season with our SCGA / GHIN / USGA  -Seacoast Christian GC organization.  If you are a player who is not a member of our club, you are welcome to join and begin your SCGA / GHIN experience with our club.  Just click on the membership or renew membership link below.  We plan a fun filled year of golf for our club members.  It is the golf committee’s  hope  that all of you will enjoy the friendly competition and year ending post season play which has been planned for all to enjoy.   Along this year’s golf journey with us, we also hope you create new bonds of friendship and camaraderie.
Posting Scores – all players are very much encouraged to use the GHIN APP  or posting website with at www.ghin.com and record their scores ASAP.  The updated system does recalculate your golf index daily.  Players are admonished to keep their index “UP TO DATE” by posting their scores.  If you look at the responsiblities of the player, there is a part that needs players to to their part.  Player who DO NOT post their scores can be subject to “PENALTY” round postings.  If you have any questions, please let the committee know.

“Post A Score”  will now be accomplished through GHIN.com and the USGA GHIN Mobile App where you will also have access to your stats, complete score history, Handicap Calculator, Golfer Lookup, and Handicap Card.

Keep in mind, that a GHIN Digital Profile is required to post scores on GHIN.com and through the USGA GHIN Mobile App. If you have not used GHIN.com or the GHIN Mobile App to post scores, you will need to use the “Create Profile” button to create your digital profile. It is easy to do and just takes a few minutes.

Here are some instructional videos to help you set up a GHIN Digital Profile if you have not done so already:

Recap Event 1 – With our first event in the books, we were blessed with a beautiful San Diego “winter weather” which warmed up and we ended up enjoying a very beautiful “Chamber of Commerce” day of golf.   Our field of players felt the challenges of this course as many players got “stung” and took on their penalty strokes for errant play.  Ted Clinite, our past 2024 Champion posted a low gross 82 to show that he’s going to make a push to get the trophy back into his living room  and make a run at the 2026 Cup this year.  Also coming out to prove he’s got game is  Paul Deveau, who proved his game is intact a  low gross 89 in the “B” flight.   Dave Ednoff (in Flight “C”) posted a low gross 90 as he woke up his irons and his low scoring  won himself LOW NET honors for the first event of the year.  Doug Austin (flight “D”)  posted a cool 103  low gross, which helped him earn a Top 10 spot on our leaderboard.

It’s early in the season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs.    Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.

– In Loving Memory of a dear brother in Christ –

Dave Stapleton

Our dear DAVE STAPLETON, went to be with the Lord this past Monday, January 19, 2026.

As many of you know, Dave was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor last year.   He valiantly went though months of both chemo and radiation therapy, but his  last follow up scans in December revealed that the tumor did not relent.  Dave never quit and knew his battle with the brain tumor was his call to move forward to Eternity…these past years with him have been an inspiration to see a brother in Christ who recognized his frailties and shortcomings … yet as a believer he knew he was totally forgiven and had “newness” in life.   Dave was driven to follow Christ in this newness of life and what an example he has given us.

Dave peacefully passed on into Eternity as his dear wife  “JB”  held him in her arms.  I had the opportunity to visit with Dave just last Saturday as he rested in his hospice bed.  He was responsive to my conversations when I spoke with him about all the great discussions we had together at Thursday Night  Men’s Bible study, and all the great times we had on the golf course together.  Many of you had fun times with Dave these past years on the links and I know he enjoyed your company and friendship when he was with you…. we all will miss  Dave greatly.

Please lift up in prayer, Dave’s family  and especially his dear wife “JB” as they deal with this great loss.  I know for certain, that Dave is now smiling down on us as he is basking in the comfort of our Lord and Savior.  Thank you Dave for being such a great friend to us all !!!

Here are some pictures of Dave and his friendship !

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.  All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily.  Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact
