Event 12 – October 3, 2025 Results – Arrowood Golf Club, Oceanside, CA

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Our tour stop today is at the challenging, but beautiful course at “Arrowood Golf Club.”  We had signed up a field of 21 players,  who enjoyed the crips cool sunshine and clear  “Fall” air.  You couldn’t ask for any better weather.  The field of players were also eager to get this important round in as “Semi Final Round” event where elevated points were available to win to solidify  “playoff” spots towards Championship Playoff contention.   Our TOP 4 players were all mentally prepared to engage in serious “match play” to win the 400 points that were available for a “WIN” that would help their cause to become a TOP 2 Finalist in our Championship Bracket.  All other players would be competing for the “Player’s Bracket” 200 points for a winning match.  Also, our low gross / low net scoring, along with Net Skins and competition pin holes will add points to player’s totals.   Every point counts…TIE MATCHES would split the points between competitors.

Most of the players in the field are all signed up for the 2025 season with our SCGA / GHIN / USGA  -Seacoast Christian GC organization.  If you are a player who is not a member of our club, you are welcome to join and begin your SCGA / GHIN experience with our club.  Just click on the membership or renew membership link below.  We plan a fun filled year of golf for our club members.  It is the golf committee’s  hope  that all of you will enjoy the friendly competition and year ending post season play which has been planned for all to enjoy.   Along this year’s golf journey with us, we also hope you create new bonds of friendship and camaraderie.
Posting Scores – all players are very much encouraged to use the GHIN APP  or posting website with at www.ghin.com and record their scores ASAP.  The updated system does recalculate your golf index daily.  Players are admonished to keep their index “UP TO DATE” by posting their scores.  If you look at the responsibilities of the player, there is a part that needs players to to their part.  Player who DO NOT post their scores can be subject to “PENALTY” round postings.  If you have any questions, please let the committee know.

“Post A Score”  will now be accomplished through GHIN.com and the USGA GHIN Mobile App where you will also have access to your stats, complete score history, Handicap Calculator, Golfer Lookup, and Handicap Card.

Keep in mind, that a GHIN Digital Profile is required to post scores on GHIN.com and through the USGA GHIN Mobile App. If you have not used GHIN.com or the GHIN Mobile App to post scores, you will need to use the “Create Profile” button to create your digital profile. It is easy to do and just takes a few minutes.

Here are some instructional videos to help you set up a GHIN Digital Profile if you have not done so already:

Here are the matchups and results:

Recap / Post Match Interviews:

MATCH 1 / Deveau vs. Casey :  Paul Deveau was shaking his head as he described his round…

“I totally gave him this round today…as my “A” game didn’t come out to play.  On the first hole I was muffing my chip shots, and not putting well.  I “gifted”  over several additonal holes to him as if it was Christmas Day.   I  have to give John credit for playing tough and steady…but he’ll be the first to admit that I handed this Win to him on a silver platter.  Today just wasn’t my day.. and I’m a bit down on myself for not giving John a tough or challenging battle today.”

John Casey was all smiles as he realized he now made it to the finals…”I knew I was against a tough match play opponent in Paul…but he somehow tightend up and made it easy for me as he messed up on crucial shots.  Even when I opened the door for him to win a hole…he somehow didn’t take advantage of certain situations..and then before I knew it…I had the WIN.  Paul was surely gracious and a total gentleman in his loss, and I feel for him.  Hopefully he’ll regroup and be ready next time around.”

MATCH 2 / Clinite vs. Haug :   Mike Haug has been playing “lights out” these past weeks and found himself in the heat of battle of the 2025 Seacoast Cup Championships.  In the interview room he was humbled today and said…

“I was all geared up to ready to play and face a good “A” player opponent in Ted.  His reputation these past years and golf season proves why he’s always in contention for the cup.  But these past weeks I felt my game was turning for the better as I’ve been scoring well and posting great scores.   I even started off with birdies to open up today’s round.  But Ted was always there to “match” my stellar play.   But due to the fact that I got a few strokes from him I was able to get an early 3 UP lead by the end of hole #4.  But then I doubled holes #7 and 9…which allowed Ted to get right back into the game.  He never looked back as the match went into the back nine and like a skilled “surgeon” Ted carefully made pars and birdies with ease and showed cased his exquisite “A” game skills.  He was relentless and just didn’t give me any openings…this is why he’s such a winner.  I tried my best to get back in the match… the more I tried, the more mishaps I got myself into…and then the match was over.      Ted truly deserved the WIN today !

Ted had a smile on his face to declare he was glad to make it to the finals to defend his trophy….” Mike surly game me a run in the early parts of the match.  I thought “birdie” would be a great score to win a hole….but he matched me several times and with his stroke allotment he would WIN the hole…this was a bit frustrating to me as I was playing well….but it wasn’t good enough.  I took a few deep breaths…and finally settled into my “mental” calmness  to just play my game….I told and reminded myself  just to ‘make pars and birdies’ and the match will play out….and with this, Mike took a few doubles and bogey’s which turned the tide.  Every time he tried to “press” and take the momentum away from me…he made a crucial golf mistake that favored me.  Mike truly was a tough competitor…but I’m glad I was able to pull this tough WIN out today.

Recap Event 11 – With our 12th event in the books, what a beautiful day of golf we had at Arrowood GC.   The course was challenging, true and fun, even though the course was set up on the shorter side as forward tee positions were manifested.   Still player’s needed to have their  “A” game in course management skills, and keeping their ball “in play’ was a premium.    This course can easily beat you up if you don’t find the fairway or green.  The greens were smooth, receptive and true.  In our “Flight A” group,   Ted Clinite took charge and fired a low gross 71 which proved to be a big “golf milestone”…not too many people can brag about “shooting the age” for a round of 18 holes….way to go Ted !!!      In “B” flight, Alan Hoekstra took charge of his game and managed to take a win in his match against Ebin to climb up the leader board in the “Player’s Cup” division.  In Flight “C” Curtis Chan held onto to a crucial match against past champion Scott Crockett, to keep his top position in the “Player’s Cup” division.   In flight “C”  Steve Knorr kept his game steady to rack up more points to keep up his 3rd spot position.   Based upon points totals, the golf committee has determined that in the 2025 Player’s Cup division the following players have a shot at taking The Player’s Cup:  Curtis Chan / Ross Mitchell / Steve Knorr / Alan Hoekstra  / Ebin Smith

2025 TOP 2  – Championship Finalist

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.  All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily.  Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
