We had predictions of rain all week for Southern California….the field was fore warned of possible “wet golf” conditions.  Seventeen players showed up to battle not just the golf course, but the inclement weather conditions.  Fortunately, there was only ONE hole where players had to get out their umbrellas and towels to keep up with the deluge of the rain storm “atomospheric river”… and overall, if you had proper rain gear, and dry clothes, the course was very manageable.  Of course it was “Golf Paths” only and players had to do a little bit of extra walking.  Back in the clubhouse, stories of great shots, and lost balls abounded.  Those who competed today had a great time and a memory of a lifetime to add to their golf journal.    Fortunately, the sun came out on a few occasions to keep the air warm enough where we didn’t feel “The Cold.” For some players today, having the “preferred lies” rule worked to their advantage as hitting balls to the green on perfect lies was like shooting at a dart board with the wet soaked greens.

“Post A Score”  will now be accomplished through GHIN.com and the USGA GHIN Mobile App where you will also have access to your stats, complete score history, Handicap Calculator, Golfer Lookup, and Handicap Card.

Recap Event 2 – With our first event in the books, we had a very “COLD” and “WET”  start to our season.    Many players had the feeling of “what am I doing here today?” as the projection of “rain all day” loomed in the air.  But those who battled and braved the conditions were all rewarded as the weather mostly cleared to clouds with light sprinkles.  The field of players were all glad to finish, but realized that playing “wet” golf under raining conditions is a rarity here in Southern California.  It makes for a very memorable and interesting day.  Our leaderboard has gotten stirred up as players who showed up today, gained points on the players on the top.    John Estill holds a very slim lead by just a few points over 2nd (Bill Miller) and 3rd (Alan Hoekstra) place.   The season is fresh and early and there is plenty of opportunity to get in the action of our Seacoast Christian GC monthly play.

NoteablesJohn Estill scored the only lone “SKIN” for the day on the par 3 hole #17.

It’s early in the season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs.    Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.  All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily.  Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
