Today in “Round 2 Playoffs” players were given the opportunity to compete in “Match Play” in addition to our regular “Low Net / Low Gross” scoring, plus Net Skins and pin competition to earn points towards their season golf totals. The points values for our players are crucial as every points may take you deeper into the playoffs. For playoff Rounds 2 and upcoming Round 2, ALL players will be able to compete to determine who can make it into the “TOP 8” quarter finals.
Recap Event 10 – With our ninth event in the books, our players enjoyed a great day of golf at The Golf Club of California. This course is full of challenge and fun, but will get the best of you if you don’t keep your ball on the fairway. Many players felt the pain of missing the fairway and taking their penalty strokes to survive the day. An “A” game is a must to survive and to be able to post a great score.
Today Ted Clinite posted a low gross 78 / low net 70 to take honors as our big winner today. With his great play today, Ted solidified his standings as a top player who belongs in the TOP 8. Ted chalked up a total of 310 points to keep his playoff hopes alive. Nice job Ted !!! Ebin Smith kept his game in check and by winning his match against our #1 Seed John Riggs, Ebin racked up 270 points today to solidified his #2 spot. John Riggs didn’t have the best of showing today, but due to his stellar play in recent rounds, John was able to survive a “bad day” at the office and he’ll be able to regroup for the next round. John still owns the #1 Seed position. Bill Miller took advantages of his chances today and posted a low gross 102 to top his “D” flight. This helped his cause and took him from the 11th seed to the #6 seed spot to put him in the TOP 8. A few players continued to hang on to their TOP 8 inspite of losing their matches today….Alan Hoekstra and Bruce Huebener, barely hung in there and remained in the TOP 8. A few players tried their best, but just came out short. Noteables: Johnny Li only needed 6 points more to land a TOP 8 spot…but he came out short. Dave Stapleton needed his “A” game today, but he left a few shots on the course which he’d truly wanted back that could have made the difference today….Both Curtis Chan and Rhett Dahle missed out today’s event as they had trips to Europe planned….both were hoping that their points would hold them a place….but they came out short…but the vacationing experience in Europe is priceless….Rhett got to play some great course in Scotland this past week !!
Here are the TOP 8 Players:
John Riggs / Ebin Smith / Ted Clinite / Paul Deveau / Scott Crockett / Bill Miller / Alan Hoekstra / Bruce Huebner
Congratulations to you all for making it to the TOP 8 !!!

How to earn “Playoff Points” – our same format will be played with Low Gross / Low Net with all remaining events. The added feature to the playoffs is that each player will be matched up in “MATCH PLAY” to earn extra playoff points. For Rounds 1 and Round 2, ALL players are able to participate to earn “Championship Points” that will be added to player’s season totals. It is only when we get to the 3rd round of our playoffs, will the CUT line be established. Those players who have sufficient points will to to the next round in the “Championship Bracket.” All other players will continue to compete, but will compete in the “Player’s Brackets.”

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee. All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily. Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
