Recap Event 6 – With our sixth event in the books, our players enjoyed a great day of golf on one Escondido’s challenging golf courses. If you have a few past experiences on this course, you know that course management is a must. The starting hole #1 tends to play “emotional” tricks on players as a “Drive Down the Middle” is a must. Anything too right or left… and your doomed. Donuts were provided to players as the early start pulled many of us out of our beds before our normal times. The weather was cool and moist for most of the front nine. Many player in the field complained that the dampness kept the ball from rolling to the cup on the greens and the “slow” greens had a huge effect on balls not falling today.
Ted Clinite proved he wasn’t going to let anything bother his game as he smoothly posted a low gross 75 / low net 67. Ted racked up over 110 points today which solidified his position in the top 3. Curtis Chan squeezed out a 2nd place finish in the “B” group with a low gross 90 / low net 75 which somehow enough points to take the #1 spot by 2 points above Ted. Ebin Smith slipped a few spots in the standings, but he’s still primed and ready to roll as our “Playoff Post Season” play is just around the corner. Scott Crocket played steady and took LOW GROSS honors in teh “B” group with a score of 86. In the “C” group, Rhett Dahle posted a Low Gross 89 / Low net 66 to earn LOW NET Honors today. In “Flight D” group, Mike Yorkey again took control of his golf game despite a very shaky start from the #1 tee. Mike got rattled on the first hole and had to play a 3rd ball off the tee to get a ball in play. After posting a “12” on the score card for hole #1, Mike turned things around and settled in his game to post a 96 for the day.
A big congratulations to Byron Dahle who reported he got a “hole in one” the day before at his club at Rancho Monserate Country Club. Today he kept firing at flags and was able to post an 89 today !!
Our golf season is now in full swing, and there’s a large group of guys now eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs. The competition is fierce and every point counts. Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee. All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily. Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.
