Tee Times and Pairings

We had a fantastic day of golf for our 2nd event our 2023 golf season.  Thirty-Five golfers showed up in the early warm morning air  temperature air to warm up their swings.  The course was is great shape and golfers were ready for the challenge.   This course has it challenges, and the first challenge was to get into a new mindset as the course superintendent reversed the nines for the day.   What a fun day as some golfers played their best and scores went low.
Welcome to all those new comers to our club.  Most of the players in the field are all signed up for the 2023 season with our SCGA / GHIN / USGA  -Seacoast Christian GC organization.  If you are a player who is not a member of our club, you are welcome to join and begin your SCGA / GHIN experience with our club.  Just click on the membership or renew membership link below.  We plan a fun filled year of golf for our club members.  It is the golf committee’s  hope  that all of you will enjoy the friendly competition and year ending post season play which has been planned for all to enjoy.   Along this year’s golf journey with us, we also hope you create new bonds of friendship and camaraderie.

Recap Event 2 – With our second event in the books, we had a great day of golf as most golf courses in the San Diego area have finally dried up from all the rain.  The warm weather did allow our field of players to play well, but the challenges of this course were waiting for our golfers.

A big congratulations to Ted Clinite for showing off his “A” game and some great golf scoring.  Ted broke 70 today and posted a low gross 69 (a personal best).  His mental toughness and ability to get up and down, and making the right shots proved that he is worthy of earning the trophy this year.  Other players who showcased their golf playing ability and played better than their SCGA golf potential index were:

Wayne Wilson / Bruce Huebner / Alan Hoekstra / John Riggs / Bill Miller / Johnny Flores    Way to go guys !!

Other notables and a thumbs up goes to Bill Abrell who still can swing it at age 95.  Both Bill and Byron Dahle teed it up from the front tees and enjoyed a round of golf.  We all hope we can play like you guys when we get to your elderly stage in life.  It’s so inspiring to see you guys play!! New to our group Josh Estill (son of John Estill) showed off his youthful swing and proved that youth will get you far off the tee box when you hit it straight….Josh earned 2 long drives today.  Ebin Smith proved that short game skills and knowing how to hit your irons like throwing darts, by winning 2x closest to pins on par 3s….way to go Ebin.  Also both Bill Miller and Tom Abrell earned 2x Net Skins each to add some extra points to their scores today. Nice shooting guys !!

It’s early in the season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs.    Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.  All players are required to “POST” their golf grounds ASAP as index ratings are calculated daily.  Please use Ghin.Com / or phone app to post your scores.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact
