Tee Times and Pairings

We had a great time this past Friday morning.  Twenty Five golfers were in the field for our  challenging visit to The Crossings @ Carlsbad.   The weather was picture perfect which made it a great golf day.  Many of you golfers experienced the trials and tribulations and all the additional challenges of the  “risk / reward” decisions this course offers.  In the end, those who brought their “A” game and executed their golf skills prevailed and posted a low score.

Welcome to the following players who are joining us for the first time this golf season:  Stephen Knorr

For our events, players are placed in golf “Flights” depending on their golf abilities reflected from their official monthly golf indices.  With that, players will be competing in a few categories.  Within their respective “Flights” players will compete for LOW GROSS scoring.  Then against the entire field of players, each player will score points from NET SCORING against the field.  There are individual points that can be earned from:  “Best Nine” low gross scoring, “NET SKINS” scoring, and “Pin Competition” holes (closest to pin / long drive holes).  All the scores are tallied up each month and players will earn points according what they did that day.

Sneakernomics: Golf and Team Sports Equipment Recap of 2020 Results - The NPD Group

Recap Event 5 – With our seventh golf event  in the books, we had a great showing of 25 players who came out to play.  The weather was picture perfect as are early morning 7:00a tee times were greeted by Carlsbad’s best morning sunshine.  All the players could attest how nicely groomed this course is, and greens were true and smooth.

To the Action Today !    Brian Carter pulled out his “A” game skills and calmly made his way around this course and shot a cool 85 low gross today, which also earned him LOW NET winner.  Ted Clinite  who claimed that his golf game was “shakey” of late,  revived his game and posted a smooth low gross 80, keeping his #1 seed position on the leaderboard.  Ryan Alexander made a showing today and shot the low gross score of 82,  but he’d be the first one to admit that his back nine score was not the same player who posted a  “1  under” on the front nine (35).  Nice shooting Mr. Alexander !!  .

Other Notables:   Bruce Huebner made a substantial move this week, by racking up enough points to take him into the TOP 20.   Ken Gunn and Mike Haug both had a good showing today and  also made some advances  towards the playoffs  coming late August.

There’s plenty more golf waiting to be played in our golf season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs.    Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.  Our next event will be our 2nd “Major” event which allows players to earn double points.  Get yourself to the range and perfect your golf shots and be ready for our next outing.

Additional golf events that are outside of of our golf schedule are:

Friday-Saturday, July 29-30 – Journey at Pechanga / Temecula Creek Inn GC – Summer Golf Extravaganza

USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile.   One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play.   Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible.  Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed.   If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”

Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
