For our events, players are placed in golf “Flights” depending on their golf abilities reflected from their official monthly golf indices. With that, players will be competing in a few categories. Within their respective “Flights” players will compete for LOW GROSS scoring. Then against the entire field of players, each player will score points from NET SCORING against the field. There are individual points that can be earned from: “Best Nine” low gross scoring, “NET SKINS” scoring, and “Pin Competition” holes (closest to pin / long drive holes). All the scores are tallied up each month and players will earn points according what they did that day.
Recap Event 3 – With our third event in the books, we had a great showing of 24 players who came out to play. The weather was picture perfect at the start, and the Lord blessed our group with a perfect sunny southern California day on the golf course. This course is full of challenge and will test all facets of your golf game. The beautiful scenery and setting can lull you into a mindset that can jump from your frustrations with your golf game to the incredible natural setting for this golf course that our good Lord has given to us. A few players were able to harness the “joy” of golf and minimize the potential frustrations this course has to offer and showcased a nice round of golf for the day.
Ted Clinite continues to hang tough with a steady golf game to post scores that keeps him on the top of the leader board and he also is showing us why he is going to be a strong contender for the 2022 Trophy this year. Ebin Smith, our 2021 Seacoast Cup Champion, continues to maintain 2nd place spot by displaying his golf talents and ability to exercise his “A” game talents. A few other players in our group, Ryan Alexander, Ken Coykendall, Jay Petty, all proved that keeping the ball in play along with controlled golf course management skills keeps your hopes alive to tackle this course. With that a few players made some large jumps in their standings by posting great scores. Notables are: Brian Carter (low gross 89 / low net 73) from Flight C, proved he’s got some game today and harnessed 110 points towards his points totals. Brian also posted one of the “low nines” (42 on front nine)….way to go Brian !!
It’s early in the season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs. Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
