COVID 19 – Pandemic – Updated Golf Restrictions
In consideration of our “PLAYOFF Season” Our Seacoast Christian Tournament Golf Club Committee continues to adopted the following.
COVID 19 Event Procedures and Protocols:
General Protocols
- a) If you’re not feeling well, please stay home
- b) Wash hands frequently, use sanitizer, and avoid touching your face
- c) Refrain from shaking hands or coming into contact with others onsite
- d) Wear a mask in the pro-shop and in any situation where you can safely social distance yourself from another person.
- BUNKERS /RAKES – Since there are no “sand bunker rakes” being provided by golf courses, the maintenance or quality of the bunker can be in question. Therefore, our club will adopt the following remedy for bunker ruling.
- Bunkers:
- a) Take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball
- b) Within one club-length of the original spot, not nearer the hole and in the same bunker.
- c) Smooth the sand with your feet, or a club, after hitting their ball out of the bunker
We had 30 players show up for this month’s event at Arrowood GC, Oceanside, CA. Today’s challenge involved an 18 hole challenge which included our first or 5 “Playoff” events. Today’s event involved players being matched up in “Match Play” according to their seeded positions on our regular season leader board. Our top 4 players will square off with each other over the next 2 events, while the rest of the field fights for “playoff points” to see if they can make their way into the “TOP 8” by event 11. Today there would be 40 points earned for players with a WIN match. Matches that end in a TIE would have both players awarded 20 points. Also points would be earned in our normal LOW GROSS / LOW NET / LOW NET Skins , as well as pin competitions. As we near the end of our golf season, our playing format will allow us to determine our “Seacoast Cup Club 2021 Champion.” The player who earns the most points will take home the trophy this year.

Recap Event 9 – Today 30 golfers showed up to play the challenging and beautiful Arrowood Golf Club course also known as “Home of the Quandary.” Three weeks ago the course had the greens punched and sanded and today, they were lush, smooth and the greens were running fast and true. The field of players were also taking part in our 1st round of playoffs where “match play” was added to the mix of competition.
To the ACTION: Our top 4 seeded players were match up. Ted Clinite / Geoff Baynes / John Casey / Ross Mitchell. While seeded players #5 on down the the leader board were matched up in match play competition. The goal of early “Post Season Playoff” play is to earn as many playoff points to get into the TOP 8 by event 11. This means players have 2 events to win matches, post low scores, and take in a few “skins” or “pin competition” points. Every point counts and the more you earn, the higher you rise on the leader board. A few players today came with their “A” game and earned big points. Ken Gunn who has only been able to participate in half (4) of our events this year, surely made good use of his presence and shot a Low Gross (89) / Low Net (66) score to move himself up the leader board. Ken is now in 12th place. Today he racked up 240 points. David DeMoss also made good use of today’s event, by winning his match, winning his Fight “A” group, and earning 210 points. His late season points has moved him from 27 to 21st place. Curtis Chan did make a power move today and solidified the 5th seeded spot today. He started the day in 12th place, but in his winning his match, posting a Low Gross (85) / Low Net (69) he earned 230 points. Other noteables are Jim Piper and Johnny Li who both rose to the occasion today and moved closer to the TOP 8 postions. Way to go guys !!! There’s still another “Playoff Round #2” which is going to even offer more playoff points opportunities. Next round the Match Play wins will be worth 100 points. If you play well, bring your “A” game to the next event, win your match, you might surprise yourself and find yourself going deep into the playoffs…..The tournament committee wishes you all the best in putting all your skills together, and playing well from this points forward.
Also for the remainder of the year, the value for Low Gross / Low Net placing shall be according to the following “Seacoast Cup Playoff ” points scoring tables:
2021 Seacoast Cup Championship – this is the post season play that will determine our club champion. Starting August 27, 2021, players will participate in “Match Play”and Stroke Low Gross / Low Net play and compete for elevated “Playoff Points.” The more points you earn, the higher up the bracket you’ll be. On September 24, 2021 event, the Top 8 players will match up again in “Match Play” with Seed #1 vs. Seed #8 / Seed #2 vs. Seed #7 etc….At the end of the round….The TOP 4 players in points earnings will continue to the Semi Finals.
