Welcome to our 2nd event of our golf season ! Our golf group had a challenging day at Arroowod GC, as the greens were lightning fast (+10 on stint meter), with pin placements in the most difficult areas. Many of our best short game players found out how important it is to have a sharp short game. Three putting on the greens was invading scorecard lines throughout the field. Only a couple of players kept their scorecard low and managed to pull out some winning points.
Big congratulations to our winners:
Low Gross Winners
Fight A – Scott Tucker (86)
Flight B – Lee Fitzgerald (88)
Flight C – Tom Abrell / Bill Abrell (94)
Low Net Winner
Bill Abrell (65)
Below are the results:
Next Event: Friday, March 11, 2016 Place: Rancho Bernardo Inn GC
Quest for the 2016 Seacoast Cup– This year will be full of fun times on the golf course. We have added a new dimension to our club’s monthly event play by having Match Play events beginning September 2016. Twenty players will earn their way to this year’s match play event. Points are earned by finishing well in both individual low gross and low net score postings. Also points are earned in different team and individual events ranging from match play, 4 man team best ball, and 2 man best ball events. Net Skins are also another category that allows players to add points to their monthly points.
Also this year we have added additional “Major” events which will have increased value in scoring for that particular event. These events will take place in April and July 2016.
Remember only those players who have an Official SCGA or USGA golf index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian Golf Club Points System. Players who participate in our events who do not have an official golf index / handicap, will be assigned a “Flight” depending on their level of play. These players also may be assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for team net play points. For information on how to obtain an official golf index contact Curtis Chan and visit: Membership and SCGA
Leader board – So we are now getting into the swing of things with the start of our new golf season. Some of our players came out swing their “A” game last month, but this month brought on a super challenge at Arrowood GC, with only a few overcoming the difficulties and challenges which this course offers. Our current leader is our 2011 Seacoast Cup Champion, Lee Fitzgerald, who has steadily improved his game over the years. This year he hopes to reclaim the big trophy and he’ll continue to spend time on the range as he has now entered into full retirement from the dental office.
