Recap Event 2 – With our second event in the books, we had a great showing of 35 players who came out to play. The air was a cool 48 degrees at the start, but by the time the morning sunshine broke through the clouds we were warmed to a very comfortable 70 degrees. All the players could mutually agree that we had the BEST golf weather anyone could ask for.
A few new players joined in on our golf season. Most of the players have played before with our group before. Yool Hur, who usually joins in for our Summer Golf Extravaganza, decided to make his appearance today and showed how an “A” game can take you to new levels. Yool came out to help celebrate Jeff Schaefer’s Birthday today, and all the BD gift giving went into Yool’s score card. Yool shot a cool 78, and took most of the longest drives. By the time the day was over, Yool added 110 points to his totals. Not to be overshadowed, Richard Mulligan (2019 Seacoast Cup Champion) played his heart out and put some great effort into his “course management skills” and posted a low gross 92 / low net 72… to help catapult his position up to 2nd place on our leader board . For Rich, adding 100 points in one event is a “good day” on the golf course. Way to go !!!!
Lee Fitzgerald continued to push forward with steadiness in his golf game as he tied Rik Thistle (2020 Seacoast Cup Champion) in Flight B for low gross (86) honors. Both players attested they left a few putts out there on the golf course and should have made a few putts to go even lower. In Flight C division, a three way tie transpired for 1st place honor. Tom Lange, John Estill, and John Casey, all posted a low gross 91…to help their cause for the season. John Estill reports that he just got fitted for new PXG golf clubs, which has given him a new boost of confidence in his game. Nice scoring guys !!!
It’s early in the season, and there’s a large group of guys eager to activate their “A” game to make it into this year’s playoffs. Here’s the calendar of events for this year so you can plan accordingly.
USGA / GHIN – Membership Responsibilities “POSTING GOLF SCORES” – It is very important for all of us to have a good understanding of “golf handicap” and your “golf index” profile. One of the elements of golf is the “integrity” of each player taking personal responsibility to post all qualified golf scores within 24 hours of date of play. Your golf index is calculated daily and it is important to keep your golf profile as current as possible. Failure to keep it current and NOT POSTING on a timely basis may be grounds for “penalty rounds” to be assessed. If you have any difficulty or don’t completely understand the process, please visit the USGA learning center that explains via video all the info you need to know about “golf handicapping”
Player’s profiles and golf rounds are all subject be audited by the golf committee.
