COVID 19 – Pandemic  – Updated Golf Restrictions

So if you’ve been out playing golf for the past two months, you’d notice that the “pandemic golf restrictions” continue to be modified and somewhat “lifted” each week.  Hopefully soon, we’ll be back to our “normal” way of golf.  Some noticeable considerations that are still in play are:  limited number of golfers in club house, no rakes in bunkers, modified cups so limited to no touching of golf pin sticks.  Players are not encouraged to congregate after rounds.  At least they are letting players ride two to a golf cart now.  But if you feel the need to be totally distanced, you can be accommodated with a single rider cart.  Walking is still encouraged.

Our Seacoast Christian Tournament Golf Club Committee has ruled and determined that with the “lack” of bunker rakes, and potential lack of “proper bunker maintenance”, that all sand bunkers will be played as “ground under repair.”  Players are entitled to a free drop, nearest point of relief, not closer to the hole if their ball ends up in a sand bunker.

Hopefully all of you are getting the hang of it during this “COVID 19- golf time.”   Please still be safe in all your decisions, and if you feel you’d be better off at home, then please do what is best for you.  The golf tournament committee wants all of you to be health and safe and to insure that you are certain that you’re safe and healthy when you get out and play.

We had 32 players show up for this month’s event at Morgan Run CC.   Today’s challenge involved a 27 hole challenge on this private country clubs 3  nine hole courses, NORTH / EAST /  SOUTH.   We were treated with a beautiful sunny day in the mid 70s’ with a nice coastal sea breeze.  There were just handful 0f  players who elected to play just 18 holes.  Those who toughed it out were able to gain “Major Points” to add to their season totals.   Being a “Major Event” point values for gross / net placing and pin competition holes were doubled in value.  If you had your   in “A” game shape, then you were going to be rewarded and had the golden opportunity to climb the Seacoast Christian GC Leader Board as we move into our “Playoff Season.”

Since this event had 27 holes of competition, the tournament committee determined that scoring would consist of combining scores in the following manner:  1.   North / East   course 18 holes       East / South course 18 holes

For those players who could only play 18 holes, the NORTH / EAST course would be used for the first score card of 18 holes.  Those players who played the South course to complete the 27 hole competition would take their East Course scoring and combine it with their South Course card making the EAST / SOUTH 18 hole card.

Recap Event 8 – Today 32 golfers showed up to play the challenging private club at Morgan Run CC, in Rancho Santa Fe, CA.  The course hired a new superintendent last year and does he do a great job… the course is in pristine condition.  Fairways were well groomed, greens were smooth and lush, tee boxes were well displayed.   All of us could appreciate a nice day of golf on a well manicured golf course.   Those who took advantage of the mostly “flat” lies, and picture perfect fairways, were able to get up and down and score well.   Since this event was one of 2nd  “Major” event competitions for our season, several players realized that they had to make a move and score well to take advantage of all the points available to win and to move up the leader board.

To the ACTION:  Ted Clinite  kept his steady game and racked up 315 points to add to his season totals, keeping his top spot on the leader board.  Kevin Barrett kept it close and earned 296 points today, to keep close enough to Ted to let our leader know that someone is chasing him.   Bruce Dunn took advantages of Net Skins along with winning a couple of pin competition holes, and scored a whopping 344 points today, to move from 17th seed to now number 7.  Ross Mitchell also kept his game in control and took low net honors (67)  on the North / East course.  He started the day tied for 24th place but ended his day landing in the 8th seeded position.

Our next event will be Friday, August 21, 2020.  We be playing the beautiful and challenging Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside.  The cost is $70.      Reply back on this email if you want to get a spot.

The Leader Board now becomes an eye watching display as we move into our Seacoast Cup Playoffs.  This year we will continue to play 2 events each month and will have events where players will continue earning points for LOW GROSS and LOW NET scoring along with MATCH PLAY competition.  Players will earn points based on event placing and match play WINS or TIES.   The points value for MATCH PLAY will be 40 points for a win and 20 points for a TIE.   Also for the remainder of the year, the value for placing shall be according to the following “Seacoast Cup Playoff ” points scoring table:
